Aye looked like the Swansea player caught the inside of his thigh with his knee, when the Swan miss controlled and Catts went to block the ball..

Aye. Great news. Means we still have someone in the race for the first premiership player banned for bookings.

Realised today how much we need him.
He is a liability, he is reckless but when he plays he bosses the midfield and scares opponents.

    He isn't a liability, he isn't reckless.

    Has he mistimed tackles before?
Of course he has, even the greatest defenders in the world have.

Has he been harshly treated by referees?
    Most definitely. <ok>

The only way he will get off the hook for his mis-timed tackling is if he does things better in other departments. Scholles springs to mind. Crap tackler - and vindictive - but because he played for England and manure everyone laughed, sighed and let him bludgeon his way through the premiership crippling players and spoiling games.

Problem is. Catts aint golden (ginga) boy Scholles. He plays for SAFC, therefore obviously a bad'un.

Agree entirely with MackemsRule, yes he has his faults but on his game which is more lately than he isn't then he can run the midfield, had he been on when Swansea went down too 10 men then we would have bossed the last 15 minutes or so and could easily have turned one point into three. Its time some of so called fans got off his back, if he is wearing the shirt and the captains armband then FFS support him instead of finding fault when at times there aren't any to find.

Cattermole isn't the finished article, but at 24 years of age he should be more mature. Bobby Moore was a captain at his age. So was Colin Todd. I agree they are exceptional examples, but, ha'way. He isn't captain quality with his mis-timed lunges, his sneers at refs, his bad passing.

Set me stall out, haven't I?

When he went off today we collapsed in midfield.

He may frustrate up all but he is the best we have in that position.

People (managers) in the know rate him. So I must be wrong, but.............
I find him clumsy, too argumentative and simply not captain material.

You may be right but its undeniable that we have no alternative and nothing better to replace him.

Colback should have been moved into the middle and Rose brought on as fullback.

Ideally thats what should have happened. Meyler had just had an Ireland call up though and wouldve been on a high. Also do we really know how fit Rose is?

When Catts not playing....I think young Colback could be the answer, he seems to have the engine and the desire, without having the reputation! he's also improving with every game, I think he could well grow into one of our most important players.

Catts going off cost us the game in my opinion and agreed not the best we have or the most skillful but, when he does play the right way he is very effective in CM. Glad he's fine and the extra week off should see him fully recovered.
