personally, I hate Tunnicliffe so will be glad if he departs and we replace him with ... well anyone probably! McG - if we got above 3 million I would take the cash as long as we could get a replacement in. Hes a great player for us but that kind of money could bring in 2 decent players at this level.
Good post TB and I share your opinion on Tunners! He's nothing special and can be easily replaced whereas Dids is an entirley different matter. Personally I dont see there being any bids made for Dids in this window.
No i cant see it either coz he aint a prem player, the debate was what if....? As for hysteria, please look up the definition of hysteria coz as far as i am concerned there was no hysteria just a debate as to the players value.
Agree.. particularly at the price that's being mentioned. I really can't imagine anyone would be willing to spend more than about £1.5 million on him and at that price we'd reject it anyway.. Our price tag of £4mill is clearly to ward others off and to ensure if anyone is that keen, that we get a decent wedge
To make matters worse, Brian McDermott believes Paul Green and Luke Varney will leave (Green to replace Tunners and Varney to replace McG??)
No punch line, just trying to put two and two together. Apparently we have this week shown an interest in both players.....
Varney has been lined up to go to Bolton/ Blackburn/ Barnsley - forgotten which one but definately a northern team beginning with B!
Just looking at all the deals done so far in the Championship and it amazes me how teams like Middlesboro and Forest can afford to spend all this money! They are taking one hell of a gamble given the FFP rules!
I think a number of clubs are flouting the FFP rules because they know they will only get a fine - it could be a gamble worth risking if you are close to the play offs/promotion. Maybe we are the mugs for not over-spending to try to achieve promotion.
Looking at the OP I think this thread should really be merged with the Transfer Rumours Thread... What do you reckon MODS?
Frazer Richardson, apparently http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/24532/richardson-i-want-to-stay
It does leave us slightly short in midfield with Tunnicliffe going especially if we were going to play 433 but all of our midfielders were much of a muchness so if we do get a replacement it will nice to get someone a bit different in the centre with a bit of guile and creativity but I'm not counting my chickens. Maybe Wordsworth and even Lawrence might get a chance. It'll be nice to try and use our own players and blood them in at this level particularly as we aren't in any real danger of getting relegated rather than getting some average joe similar to the others on loan for the rest of the season.
