Seems possible that he could be an Arsenal player once again next season. His club's president confirmed the news. What if anything will he bring to the table that was different from when he was last here? I remember him struggling to make an impact in the bigger games for us, and didn't generally set the world alight. Hopefully if he comes, it will be a happier second outing for him.
Another good option down the right flank for us. Walcott seems to get injured quite regularly so its a good too have options (I don't think he'll be happy as a sub mind you) Wenger may play him down the middle. He's always been a superb finisher.
For the price he is worth it but a risk if we don't get any significant reinforcements. As the OP points out, its a risk as he struggled in the Prem last time around. Lets hope the experience from RS will help him.
Everyone seems to be in agreement that we can not only buy Vela to help support Giroud. Who else would be everyones preference? Me personally, I would have liked to have gotten Remy as he offers pace and Mario Manzoukic as he is similar player to Giroud (alot quicker) and therefore we could rotrate the big men up front of like in the FA Cup last year, play them both when required. We would be able to pick them both up for around the £30million mark which in my opinion would be some very good business.
Vela would be a great move. He struggled before but he was only young and will have matured since then. Added to which he will be brimming with confidence after a great spell in Spain. Couple that with the fact he can play a number of positions up front and I think we'd be idiots not to sign him. We've been banging on for years about our lack of depth and now we question whether we should buy a chap who was one of the players of the season in La Liga for £3m!
Vela and Walcott as wing forwards offer both pace (for Ozil to pick out) and a goal threat. Still need a top class central striker though to replace Giroaf. Balotelli would be my choice.
Plus, lest we forget, should he turn out to still be unable to adapt to the EPL we can sell him fo' mega-bucks!
We need a TOP class CF to compete with Giroud. In fact we need an improvement on Giroud. A Remy/Bony type signing wouldn't help us in the slightest. We already have forwards of that quality in our team. Realistically we need a: Mandzukic, Benzema, Balotelli, Cavani quality signing.
Remy I agree with what you say, Bony is still young at 25. If Wenger thought he could make something of him and signed him, I wouldn't bet against him coming good. However, I agree that the 4 you list are better candidates. Not sure that we will sign any of them though. Still can't help feeling that Wenger is going to surprise us.
Yeah. I did say at the start of the window that I thought Wenger may go for youth. In a way I still think its our best option when it come to competing with Chelsea/City in the long run. I guess Aurier, Morata, Balotelli could all fit into that bracket. Personally, I would like 1 World Class established name like Fabregas/Di Maria/Cavani and maybe 2-3 top young players. I think that's well within the capabilities of the Club.
Didn't Gazidis confirm this at last weeks Q+A ? On the basis that the player doesn't appear keen on a return to Arsenal the clever thing to do would be to buy him back then immediately sell him on, he's probably worth close to £20m, and use the profit to help fund the purchase of a proper striker (not that money is an issue).
Don't think we can immediately. What we can do is let them sell him as we've a 50% sell on fee. In theory that money can then go towards a new player and definitely not going straight on the pile. Definitely not...
