Swans and Cardiff fans clash at Newbury Races

Three people have been arrested after Swansea City and Cardiff fans clashed at Newbury Racecourse yesterday afternoon. Around 30 fans fought with each other at the Berkshire racecourse, leading to the closure of bars and the police being called. Thames Valley Police said two people were arrested for affray and a third for a public order offence. An eyewitness to the incident, Denise Mathias, told trade paper the Racing Post: "It just seemed to be a big fight between football supporters from Cardiff and Swansea. It was terrible. I saw a stocky man covered in blood having his head stamped on."

Inspector Phil Rogers of Thames Valley Police said: "Two arrests were made for affray and one for a public order offence. The remainder left on buses. "It appears to be caused by football supporters from Swansea and Cardiff who met in the ground." I wonder if Aber was there? or is he too old, and fried by weed!........

Disgusting behaviour, I saw it online in one of the papers earlier. They bring shame to both clubs, I hope they all get banning orders and the weight of the law is thrown against all of them.

We've got a similar thread on the cardiff board Phil, and I'm delighted to see that there is condemnation from both sides. I hope that nobody tries to score cheap points over this as these morons are a blight on both of our clubs and South Wales as a whole. They really don't care about Swansea City or Cardiff City. If they did, they would be a bit more careful about our reputations. Why on earth these mindless thugs have to continue using our clubs as an excuse to engage in their mindless violence is beyond me.

It's to late clingo one of your Cardiff fans is there with the cheap shots <doh> this is not about who done what, this is about standing together and condemning it completely ! Is it any wonder we have fans saying that the welsh clubs should be removed from the league system, if I was a neutral fan looking at this I would be saying ban them from our leagues !

I've just left a similar message on the taffy board, none of these idiots are FANS they are drunken chavs from both cities out to cause trouble.... Its a real shame that both SCFC and CCFC have even been mentioned. Yes they are from Swansea and Cardiff, but i would put a months wage on none if them being seasoned supporters.... The only working class people to go to watch horses are pissed gambling addicted CHAVS! I've never liked horse racing, its for addicts and rentboys! Why is this being reported as "football fans fighting"? It shoul be racing rent rentboys fighting!

There'll always be one VS. The rest of the comments appear to agree with what you are saying.

The truth will come out , I wonder why both clubs supporters were named as the culprits ? .There's been quite a few Rumours going around and the internet is the quickest way of creating urban myths so I would suggest that what ever is heard or made up be left in the posters head(s) A certain poster should take note

Lazy and poor journalism to report it as "Football Fans" when it was at the races, really poor and inaccurate report. Why was it linked to football?

Absolutely agree poor journalism trying to whip up problems again very much like the terrible incident involving the Cardiff guy in London, sorry I forget his name, that was said to be football related with Swansea fans involved as I remember.

This has nothing to do with our Club or football.

They didn't have any club jerseys on, but needless to say they are no fans of the clubs in any case.

The main people involved were NOT associated with the Club ( Swansea) , a different code of football all together ,too much drink for some and unfortunate timing that brought two groups from different parts of S Wales together .I'm sure that there will be follow up arrests as the area is covered by CCTV and hopefully this will not tarnish the Clubs' reputation but some knuckle draggers still exist and we've still got our share I'm afraid

Ignorant yobs are ignorant yobs no matter what tops they are wearing. The authorities should throw the book at whoever has been arrested.

When I first read this in the EP, I wondered how the bar staff and witnesses new they were Cardiff & Swansea fans, but there must have been some obvious give away, needless to say they both bring shame on our respective clubs, hope they deal severely with them!............................ <ok>
