For anyone who hasn't seen it before, here's a little compilation of Ash's time with City, courtesy of Boothferry Legend...

This man should be a part of the clubs fabric.

Perhaps it was suggested but mistranslated as 'curtains for Ashbee"?

Well deserving of the legend tag. If they made a film of his career, it'd be dismissed as unbelievable.

One thing that stands out for me, is how every time we got promotion, many many people wrote him off as not good enough, and after a few games in that latest step up he was ramming those words down people's throats.

I'm sure you won't be able to find any who allegedly wrote him off though if you ask.

How fitting it was Ash's goal at Yeovil that set us on our way up through the divisions. I still see him from time to time heading towards 1884 on Marina

He scored some pretty important goals for City- Yeovil, Palace, Southend. And there was some spectacular goals as well like at Torquay.

    Ever reliable.

    Great captain.

Does he still do all the road running with Tommy Coyle?

He's done the odd bit of sparring with him too, I don't think he can avoid getting involved in a bit of training, they live in the same gaff.

I always remember his great headed goal at Barnsley towards the end of the promotion season. We won 3-1 and no one was going to stop Ash getting onto that cross - possibly the best headed City goal I have ever seen :D

I cannot understand why he is not allowed to be more involved in the club, he was just an excellent captain and used to chivvy everyone along and lead by example. On another note speaking as a woman He was bloody lovely in his younger years.

And some said he had no skill and couldn't play. Absolute muppets. No f'in idea.
Scored some of our most memorable and important goals too.
    For once 'legend' is appropriate.
