Good evening, guys. I'm very passionate about international football. And for quite a while I've had to support foreign teams. But, as you all know, we have the worst English squad at the moment who are regularly under perform. The 2010 South Africa World Cup brings back many memories to be honest. I just do not understand why a whole team of players solely rely on Wayne Rooney. The likes of Gerrard, Lampard, Bent, Milner and A.Johnson were included in the squad that travelled to South Africa, not that I'm saying the above names are world-class, but I'm pretty sure a few of them are capable of shining, and actually putting in the effort to help their fellow Englishmen. To be honest, there is no other club in the world that does more for their national team than Manchester United. I think it's time the FA began to appreciate it, and actually started respecting Sir Alex Ferguson rather than mistreat him in public. As you all know, United could provide eight players for Fabio Capello next week for his Euro 2012 qualifiers. I personally think there is no respect shown in return for the work he does in bringing through young English players. Instead, he finds himself with a touchline ban or one of his players excluded from an FA Cup semi-final for shouting at a TV camera. Capello's now got a change to put right everything that he did wrong in the World Cup. I know Sir Alex Ferugson is a passionate Scot but there's no doubt he's handed Fabio the perfect opportunity to redeem himself with England. We now have eight English players in our squad including the most exciting youngest talented players the country has seen in decades. Jones, Smalling, Welbeck and Cleverly are amongst those names. We have a blend of youth and experience in our squad which is essential in the pursuit of success, in my opinion. I haven't had the opportunity to watch Afobe nor any of the Arsenal U21. How are they doing? I'm already feeling wary, and we haven't even qualified. Hopefully, this time round, Capello will prepare ahead of the Euro 2012. Most of the United Kingdom have given up on England, but a feeling remains in us that we'll always support them, no matter what. Please feel free to contribute your genuine opinions below.
Here's what I predict will happen: Capello will pick the young talent for the qualifiers where they shine. England qualify easily. Then for the actual tournament Capello will drop the youngsters and revert to the proven failures. Despite this England will record a convincing group stage win against some footballing superpower like Slovenia or Norway, leading half the press to talk about "spirit of '66". Then England will be trashed by the first half-decent team they face. Capello goes and the media will preach about how foreigners can't manage England. The FA will then hire some of the country's finest managerial talent such as former Switzerland manager Roy Hodgson. He will recall Heskey, Beckham & co. because the only way to play football is to hoof long balls to a big frontman. Of course this will require the likes of Wilshere and Cleverley be dropped. England will then fail to qualify for 2014 World Cup. Amen
the FA show fergie respect? they do that, to him more than ANY other manager! only man utd fans don't see that.
The way I see it, there are only two players for England that are both in the peak of their careers and are fulfilling their potential at international level at the moment - Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young. The rest are either past it, not good enough or are merely "promising" I wouldn't be surprised if Montenegro top the group to be honest
well, i would call jack wilshere "promising", but merely? plus he's already an england starter and can only get better. i would also say that young is slightly past his peak. that was 2 years ago at villa where he was sublime.

Jack Wilshere is merely promising at the moment. Yes he starts for England and deservedly so, but that probably says more about who he's beaten for the place. He could fulfill his potential, but he hasn't yet.
Last half decent side england have beaten in a competitive game = Argentina in 2002. Every tournament they play someone decent and then go out.
In theory, with players like Hart, Smalling, Wilshere, Walcott, Young, Milner, Johnson, and Rooney already established for their clubs and playing in Europe at a relatively young age, and players like Richards, Kelly, Jones, Cleverley, Welbeck, Carroll, Henderson and Gibbs with the potential to join them, the future should be very bright. But then that's what was said back in the late 90s when Beckham, Scholes, Butt, the Nevilles, Owen and Campbell were the same, with Gerrard, Cole, Carragher, Ferdinand and Terry coming through.
