What a prick this man is. He has called Manchester United player Danny Welbeck into the England squad as a replacement for right winger Aaron Lennon. If only there was a right winger out there who has possibly been the best in the league in that position, assists to show.

We have to face that Joey will never be called up because of his past, Danny Welbeck has been good for Man Utd reserves, but not better than Barton I'm sure we can all agree?

Unfortunately, it won't come down to Barton's form on the pitch.

It's a shame and it's not fair but with a past like Joeys, he's gunna have to accept it.

Got to face it now, at 28, Joey will never get another cap. Capello is insistent on keeping the old guard in place an occasionally will pick a youngster to placate the pundits that say new blood should be brought in.

At least he won't get injured playing for England.

Shame for Joey as it seems his past is holding him back, he has been the stand out midfielder this season for me, but as simonbh7 says, he won't get injured playing for England which is good for NUFC.

Can't help but think if he was playing at the likes of Spurs he'd be in the side by now though.

Capello's a mumbling bumbling buffoon who should never have been given the England managers job. He should pick the best team possible and that would include Joey. Not that I'm bothered about it too much myself because it means we won'thave to worry about him getting knocked up on International duty, but it would have been nice for Joey to be selected for his Country.

Need I point out that Joeys only recently come back from injury? I'm frankly delighted he's been ignored for a meaningless friendly against Ghana B.

On top of that Welbeck is a more straight swap replacement for Lennon anyway. If Capello wants a pacy right winger he's not going to call up Barton is he?

Finally, Welbeck won't have played for Man U reserves in ages, he's been on loan at the mackems all season, so its not even a 'Capello doesn't go North of Manchester' issue.

    Conspiracy!!!

  13. Lennon is no where near as good as Barton. Lennon has pace, skill and good goal threat, but Barton's vision, deliveries, intelligence, his ability to aid the defense and his tackling makes him far better than him or Welbeck.

Barton should be in that ****in squad! **** Garteth Barry!! No Gerrard! Why isn't Barton there!?

I laughed when I heard Barry had been given the captaincy. A player whos been **** at club level and not exactly set the international stage alight. Rather Wilshere got it only real name to pick from the team hell play tonight

Barton is a completely different player to Lennon. Barton should have been in before but I'm glad he's not in now as he's only just back from injury.

Also, how Gareth Barry is in the team (and has has 45 caps) I will never know, never mind being captain.

Have to disagree there, his passing may not be up to Barton's ability but Lennon is a very good attacking winger who will give most defences trouble all match.

Lennon and Barton are two very different players. One's naturally a CM with very good passing ability, vision, creativity, composure, tackling, work-rate and intelligence. Lennon is a natural winger with awesome pace, good crossing ability, can score goals.. basically a SPEED-MACHINE but works hard and always a threat for most full-backs with his dribbling/trickery ability.
