Except it isnt is it - Jones joined the managerial team on 27th January, before Matchday 21. For some reason you have shown the position only since Matchday 28.
It does make a difference. If you are going to try and argue your case using statistics then use the correct ones.
The case I'm making is that we've been the 10th best side since Jones came in and I'm correct. You've found a 1 game innacuracy in the table provided that unfortunately doesn't alter the accuracy of the claim. The fact you've dug around trying to disprove it is quite funny though.. maybe it surprised you.
You showed a table for the last 11 games where we were 7th best and said that was for their entire tenure. I have shown you that its wrong - Jones and Bruce have been together since 27th Jan (for last 18 games) and over that period they were 10th best. Thats a 7 game inaccuracy in your table (not 1). We improved significantly after Jones came in but somewhat less than your statistics showed. Interestingly though we have also improved at similar rates in 3 of the previous 4 seasons as well. So you could argue that the 2nd half upturn is just as likely to be due to a factor other than a change in the managerial team (squad depth compared to other teams in bottom half, the weather etc). Hopefully, the takeover wont go through and we can see who was right at Christmas. Screenshot this now.
@JakartaToon You've already accepted we were 10th best the full tenure I've just shown you the reason for the second table was because Liam asked a question. We can discuss the but, but buts after you acknowledge that you've made an error. I made an error it's actually 26 points over 18 games not 19.
Reread my quoted replies in last post. You incorrectly stated that 2nd table you posted was for their entire managerial tenure - you were wrong. It wasn’t. No error on my part.
No I kindly checked both tables and found that you were correct in 1. All I've done is had the good grace to bring that to your attention. The fact is that I was replying to Liam and I posted 2 tables.. The fact you have used the 2nd table to dispute my argument relating to the 1st isn't my fault.
Anyway what do you think of my theory that the upturn in form was part of our usual seasonal cycle and the change in management team might be coincidental, as supported by statistics from previous seasons?
There's been what 125 seasons? Show me your stats that indicate that's the usual seasonal cycle and I'll consider them, however it doesn't matter the fact is that we were fine since Jones came in and the impact was immediate as I predicted. I'm not intersted in the how's ifs bits and maybes mate I'm just looking at the stone cold fact. I don't even like a Bruce im just saying blacks black.
You seem to be missing the whole point of my argument. Its really simple and has been stated in each of my posts: 1. Liam quoted your 2nd table with our final 11 games and asked whether you had a chart/table for everything. 2. You replied. Everything? That’s the full tenure of the current managerial and coaching set up. 3. I said “But it isnt is it - as the two have been in place together from Week 21 not Week 28 4. You have then posted ‘yeh but no but’ ad infinitum.
Then came the 2 tables.. One for full tenure 10th One for last 11 7th Essential I answered his question and backed up my claim on bold.
If you had read my posts you would have seen i said the last 4 seasons. So here you go: Position by Game Week: Points by Game Week: 2017-18 and last season were almost identical in points won and when they were won. Last season was probably our worst of the 4 , in that given our aim since coming up appears to have been survival (and 40pts is often deemed the magical target) we reached that latest (Week 37) of the 4 seasons in 2020-21 despite being ahead of the 2017-18 and 2018-19 totals at the point where Jones joined the management team (Week 21)
