Evening lads - Watford fan in peace My nephew's 10 next month and is an avid spurs fan. He keeps asking me about all your old players, managers, Cup finals etc. so I thought I'd try and buy him a nice book about your history. Can any of you recommend a decent one please? If there's a good one with photos then so much the better. Thanks guys
Evening Dan Tottenham The complete record by Bob Goodwin, plenty of history, stats and photos included. Its on sale in the Spurs on line shop for £15 at the moment.
Not so much a history of our club, but reckoned to be one of the best Spurs book ever written is 'The Glory Game' by Hunter Davies. It's an inside diary of a season in the 60's written by a journalist who was allowed access all areas. It's a very popular read even now although it was written years ago. .
I was about to order this the other day, was released late last year http://www.amazon.co.uk/Biography-T...=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1359401128&sr=1-1 not sure if your nephew would enjoy it as he's 10 but reviews are good.
OS, Classic book and a quality read. If I remember rightly, it covered the season that we beat Wolves in the UEFA cup?
Thanks to all the rest of you as well - much appreciated guys. I might actually read some of the recommendations myself!
This one's come out recently: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Glory-Night...=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1359402257&sr=1-3
One of the best books on any sport - period!! It was actually season 71/72 I think and actually followed one of our most successful years. The writing was very detailed and it did have some down to earth language, so 10 might be a bit young. But certainly at the top of my recommendation list for anyone wanting to know about our great club.
Not a biography of our history, as such, but the Jimmy Greaves biography is a good read, funny, and has a lot about his Spurs days in it, at a time when we were one of the great forces in world football.
Sorry for the bumped thread but just a big thanks to Juntion 8 Spurs. I ordered "Tottenham the Complete record" and it's one of the best club histories I've seen. Has absolutely everything you could want including 100 in depth player profiles. I'm not old enough to remember John White but reading about him and his tragically early death bought back childhood memories as my dad always told me he was one of the best players he'd ever seen. My nephew#s going to love it so thanks again and cheers for all the other recommendations. Good luck against Newcastle
