He feels the pace of the game means he is not able to find his passing range quite as quickly as he wanted, but is confident that will change as he gets more games under his belt.

“I understand why Newcastle supporters are disappointed that I will be away for a few weeks at the African Cup of Nations, but I hope they also understand why it is so important to me to play in it,” he said.

seem's like a decent bloke apologizing to us fans even though we knew he'd be going but also good to see he wants to play for his national team unlike most of England's players.

Scary to think Cabaye can only get better...

Also do you ever remember someone like Owen coming out and apologising to the fans for getting injured on international duty or saying how he's sorry he's missing games for us.

Good of Ba to do that even though there is no reason to apologise at all. Shows the type of characters we have now at Newcastle. Wish English players felt the way Ba does about playing for our country then we might win something. The African Cup of Nations starts on 21st January which means we have most of the transfer window to secure a replacement. Wonder who it will be as Maiga will be away as well and hes one of our main targets.

    De Jong? Possibly.

As you say though, brilliant of Ba to come out and apologise really, when to be honest I don't think any of us have 'complained' about it, so to speak. Understandable, of course! Great of him to be thinking of us fans though.

And Cabaye talks a lot about Pardew's willingness to sign him. Shows his man management skills I suppose, always sounds like he really made an effort, which is good.

  6. There are some games in which Cabaye doesn't see a lot of the ball, but he runs and puts in a shift, and even if he isn't on the ball a lot he still makes those magic through balls and long balls 4-5 times a game and makes great chances.

You guys do realise that Ba hasn't actually apologised right? Read what he said, not the media-spun headline.

They do say 'sorry seems to be the hardest word" so give him the benefit of the doubt as his English isn't up to scratch yet <whistle>

It's good to hear players say they want to play for the manager and team and suggest they feel valued regardless the perceived image of the club in the media. Cabaye points out the next three games are the test to see how good we really are. but I'm in two minds about this. I don't think it really is a test because I'm expecting defeat and whilst it will be disappointing it's not devastating. At this stage we're better than last season, game for game we're better than last season (we'd be in the relegation zone like for like) but we can only measure year for year at the end of this season. So in a way I see it as us not being arrogant and saying 'we're better than last year, job done'. It suggests to me we're fighting all the way with the belief we could be the best of the rest and maybe even sneek in to the top six.

We can see Cabaye is struggling a bit, but he is still getting recognised as a fantasic player even though he isn't at the top of his game. Looking forward to seeing him at his best!

I understand completly why Ba wants to play for his country, wish the England players were as commited - as you have already mentioned
