Bye bye Chelskis brief stint in the spotlight. Happy days as another foe bites the bullet. Let the free fall begin http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20423905
Ridiculous arrogance from Abramovich, most teams would have lost to Juventus away. Unless Guardiola's already lined up i don't see who there is to replace him?
Guardiola is not the answer to Chelsea's problems. The problem with Chelsea is Roman Abramovich... sooner or later the new coach is not going to be able to deliver. What then? Keep sacking manager after manager until the end of the season? Lunacy.
Chelsea is Roman's plaything, as long as he bank rolls the club, he can do whatever he likes. Even with his destructive behaviour, Chelsea managed to win the Champions League and FA cup last year. It looks like Guardiola is favouite to take over, but it would take a fool and a greedy one at that, to want to be manager for Chelsea FC. It's a shame really as Guardiola would be a perfect fit for Arsenal. If it wasn't for the greedy Arsenal board, this would be our natural progression. Wenger has gone as far as he can with Arsenal and he's clearly gone stale with us. Funnily enough, Wenger would be a good choice for Chelsea but that wouldn't happen as he's too entrenched into his Arsenal project.
Sad for RDM. Seems a very likeable, able coach. He's won the CL & FA Cup. Such a shame. Chelsea are in transition - Drogs, Anelka, Lampard, Cole & Terry are on the way down & out or have left. Di Matteo brought in the next generation but hasn't been given the chance to let them gel & reap the rewards.
I actually liked RDM. He was a cool guy, a decent person, and all that. I can't believe Abramovich sacked the guy that brought them the Champions League. They're doing well in the league, and the only reason they've struggled at all is because Abramovich insisted on spending 50 million to buy Torres. Their CL group was tough, but they're not out yet. It's hardly a slip up to be 3rd in that group after 5 games. Sure it's not in their hands, but it's still mad to fire him now. Abramovich is an idiot. No-one will want to manage Chelsea for footballing reasons. Good news though, Arsenal for 3rd!
Whether you agree with the sacking of RDM (I don't personally) it is no guarantee of Chelsea's imminent demise! Most people think you need managerial stability for sustained success. Chelsea don't with a recent record that every club in the PL bar Utd would bite your hand off for. Like it not, it works for them. Last 8 full seasons Chelsea, 7 Managers, 11 major trophies Arsenal 1 Manager, 1 major trophy
No guaranteed long term stability though. I'd rather be in Arsenal's position with the coming financial regulations...
What works is having Roman bankrolling Chelsea, not having our impotent Board that is looking for a profit at all costs. It's funny, even with Chelsea's so called instabilities, they have majorly outdone Arsenal in the success side and even with the sacking of RDM, i can see Chelsea more likely winning a trophy than Arsenal. Sad really.
This has to be the most disappointing and annoying news of the season so far........ I had a ton on Mark Hughes being the first to be sacked.......
On the plus side, Chelsea are now in a state of flux, which should allow us to finish above them, especially as Guardiola/Mourinho won't be available until the end of the season, so they'll get Benitez or 'Arry. On the negative side, I actually like Roberto Di Matteo, and I admire what he was trying to do with Chelsea, turn them from the boring sit back and defend side, into a side that plays nice football. They have been good to watch this season.
Idiots that have secured them 10 honours in 8 years, but without the dirty Russian mafia money, they would have been relegated most likely.
Even by Chelsea's standards this is insane. Chelsea are four points behind City in the table and are still in the CC and CL. Ok, they might go out of the CL, but they got a tough group and it's not like Pep is available right now to take over.
So seems like Rafa Benitez is the favourite to take over, it's gone down really well with the Chelsea fans.
