More than a bit odd that he got on before Taarabt, especially after last week's showing. Poor result in the end, really turgid stuff; reminded me a little of some of the games last year when we were drawing a lot. Helguson did his bit and scored again, so what follows is not a criticism of the Iceman. Without the threat of pace upfront, we really lack the ability to stretch teams, as has been illustrated here today and numerous times last season. I think that Warnock needs to show a bit more flexibility and stick Mackie up top for the last 10-15 minutes of matches (in situations like today) when we need to kill teams off or grab an equaliser/winner. As for not using Tabby, seems a bit wasteful with one substitution left (I think we had one to make anyway).
Think Buzz has to go in jan not for that mistake today, but I don't think he's good enough for the prem, and he needs to get out and play football, good champs player. Sad but true imo we need to be harsh for the sake of the club
I think the reason we didn't bring Taarabt on was because Albion were playing the counter-attack better than us, but you have to gamble sometimes for a result. All-in-all a disappointing game in the end. SWP's disallowed goal could come back to haunt us...
We were 1-0 up at the time when Buz came on, so Tarbs wouldn't have been the natural choice. But why not Derry?
May as well have put Taarabt on he may have snatched a goal. SWP's effort I thought was a perfectly good goal and theirs was marginally offside for the cross. By which small margins such games are won and lost. But unfortunately more dropped points.
I guess Warnock was reluctant given Tabs like of interest in defending, but in the end WBA grabbed the equaliser anyway; with the opposition on the offensive and the space developing behind them, the situation was ripe for Tabs to exploit. In the end they made three substitutions and scored; we made one and conceded. Still think a change in line-up towards the end, with Mackie stretching them up-top for the last ten minutes would make a huge difference. Their defence were never worried about Helguson running behind.
There was a lack of options on the bench. I'd have preferred Smith myself but Buz is capable of producing something out of nothing and I can see why he was given a run, as much as some on here despise him.
Now who's talking through their ****?!! Husky, you think COLIN brought him on for his defensive attributes? Its difficult to close out a game when its 10 v 11.
The trouble is that he has been out of the loop for so long that he needs games - not just reserve games - to get used to the pace, etc, etc. You never know with injuries and suspensions when the likes of Akos will be needed to start a game. It would be even worse for us if he had had no game time at all.
I said I'd have preferred Smith. Buzsaky isn't the player he once was but we know what he can do and the vitriol you shower him with, as well as insisting on calling Warnock Colin, is a bit sad and needless.
Swords, you misunderstand me I'm afraid. What I was attempting to say was that Buz was brought on at 1 nil, so clearly Warnock was not attempting to close the game out with a defensive substitution; so in that case why did he not use Tabs. That was my point, no need for a hissy fit.
Oh stop being so melodramatic. You're easily offended. You'd have preferred Smith? I'd have preferred perma-tanned side-kick Keith Curle to be thrown in ahead of Buz. The guy's all washed up.
I'm not easily offended at all. I just think your attitude towards Buzsaky and Warnock is childish and unnecessary.
I'd love Buzz to prove me wrong but I doubt it will ever happen Watford. Warnock's the best manager we've had in 20 years end of. I like the bloke too, hes got character. But he'll always be COLIN!
True. I would have put on Derry myself at 1-0. Tarbs should have come on for the last 9 minutes at least.
