Since hearing the news Liverpool were in for Butland a couple of days ago, I have been looking at the odds.

When rumour first broke (think Sunday):
    Liverpool 2.25
    Southampton 5

Yesterday I saw one link for us to him again:
    Liverpool 3
    Southampton 4

    This morning it'd changed to:
    Liverpool 4
    Southampton 4

    Lunchtime:
    Liverpool 3
    Southampton 3

    Tonight:
    Southampton 2.25
    Liverpool 5

Not too sure where I stand on this. Think hes a class young keeper, but do also think that both Boruc and Gazza will come good.
As much as I like Kelvin (so loyal and a model pro), I have been of the oppinion since before the start of the season that he's not really Premier standard. I know he wasn't too blame for all of the goals at Sunderland and feels he took more blame than he should of done, but any keeper who concedes 100 goals should surely take a look in the mirror.
Hope we keep hold of him on the coaching staff, as I think he's a top class pro. If we dont manage to stay up then maybe one more season for him.

Butland is a great young keeper of that Im sure, but equally I think Gazza has loads of potential and Boruc record certainly stands up....

    Thoughts...?

If we go down, and have Butland and Gazzaniga he won't play again. In fact i doubt he will from now on.. He has been good for us, but is unlucky he is getting no younger and is simply put too slow for premier league football, this combination is doing him, or us no favours!

Also on Butland, he shows good signs, but doesnt exactly shine in the championship, and we have Gazza, seems like a pointless transfer to me, we need someone at peak age, who can play for 1-3 seasons whilst giving gazza time. I hope iit could be Boruc, as he has been class in the past. He got better as the game went on yesterday, so give him a few more games, and if need be buy a target later in the window.

Totally agree, he got his shot which he deserved after his last few seasons for us, but he's been found out again in the top tier.

Feel that signing Butland will be like signing JRod...we'd pursued them for so long that we signed them after we stopped really needing them. Have to say I am warming to JRod and feel he can make the step up.

Fran, signing JayRod and Butland was and would be excellent. We are now a forward thinking club and it seems to me that both NA and NC are sticking to the same plan. Signing these type of players is good if we stay up and good if we to down.

We're currently at 4, with Fulham at 1.
