Hull are expected to announce that Bullard has been suspended for a fortnight for supposedly traveling overnight from London to Hull for training. Well, I have to say that you don't need to travel overnight - by car you'd do it in no more than four hours and by train at most three. In any case, any souring of the relationship there can only be good news for Town.
Can't envisage that he'll end up with us. If he wants a move so badly then work out a payoff from Hull. Guess this is what happens when you get given a £9m contract over five years. If you had a wife & kids what would you do? It's just a sad state of affairs.
if I had £2m I'd never have to worry about money again so I'd play the football. However it's not as simple as that because for all we know he has a £5m mortgage to pay.
But if he comes to Ipswich he'd have to sell his house anyway, I'm sure he could make do with a house only worth £2M not £5M. If not he could always do a few more wash n go ads! The way I see it the longer this goes on the more chance we have of signing him but I feel QPR will come in just as it looks like we might get him.
I agree Svendust - it's become a game of chicken. At the end of the day Bullard would make a huge contribution.
Why keep bangin on about Bullard! He's not our player and at the wages he's demanding he never will be! We would be mad to take a punt on a 32 year old injury prone and money grabbing ****er! He helped us out of the **** last season but he needed us as much as we needed him. I say move on and leave the prick to it.
I have to disagree with most about him...i would prefer we didnt sign him. Yes, excellent at set pieces, but he's now too slow, and too lightweight. Martin, Leadbitter, Hyam, Bowyer, Quinn, Drury, Healy, Edwards, Carson...all good enough to do a job instead of Bullard!! Hope we dont waste our money on him, he's too much of a luxury. Id rather spend that bit extra and get Whittingham or Henry from Millwall.
Guys, there is no disputing his quality, although some of you appear to be doing this I don't know how as he's a class above anything we currently have at the club and thats including Bowyer. I would love him in the team next season aslong as he we don't have to break the bank for him. He controlled matches for us last year and currently we have no players like that, also it was great to have a bit of character in the team, I'd pay to come and watch him as he's not only a superb footballer but a character on the pitch. Just because he won't take a 30,000k wage cut we think he's a money grabbing ****, what would you do if you were in his situation. Most people in their jobs don't say, hang on I could change jobs to a firm I quite like but they'd offer me less than 50% of what I'm currently getting paid, oh yes why not!!!????
The big difference is that none of us (i reckon) have been earning £45k a week for the last few years! If he wants to desperately play football then take a ****ing pay cut and come and play football! Poor little darling if he cant survive on just £20k a week! He's a money grabbing tosser and I am happy to stand by that! We need players who want to play for Town and not just for the pay packet and I don't care how good they are!
I'd take Bullard back pretty quickly. Sure, he's being a bit of a money grabber, but I'd do the same as him! He's a quality player, and the idea of Bowyer and Bullard running the show would be brilliant! He could help develop the younger players, and his character around the dressing room could only be beneficial! If we can get someone else in then great news, don't go back for Jimmy. But if it's a choice of having him or not having him, I'm all for taking him back in.
I know we mustn't feel sorry for him, I mean the amount of money he is on is obscene, along with most footballers. But he is coming to the end of his career(which is a short one), one of which has had quite a few injuries and he has a family to look after. He has a contract which os around 45k per week for another 2 years at Hull, now would he take a contract from us which is likely to be at max 20k per week based on appearences on the basis he wanted to just come to play football??? I think if many of us were put in a similar situation our decisions would be different to what we preach when talking about these so called money grabbing greedy footballers. The amount footballers are on is obscene compared to most other jobs, but lets not forget its not the players who decide or are the ones prepared to pay these wages, its the clubs driven by the media money and fans wanting the best players at their clubs. It seems very easy to critisize footballers who own more than most of us do in a year in a week, but if we had their talents I'm sure nearly every one of us would try to be getting the most out of a contract to support our families and a decent lifestyle. Also let face it most footballers have little between the ears and therefore will probably struggle for a career if they choose to go outside of football after their career, so must make as much money as they can whilst they are playing.
