Let's face it, Brucey has lost the dressing room and it's more than likely to do with the following:

    1. He employs Cattermole as captain of the first team - he isn't a leader, he isn't a likeable person and if I was a fellow colleague I'd be wondering what the hell he has done to deserve such merit.

    2. He continues to take off players towards the end of the game that have the experience to hang on to your points or even change the game if needs be, i.e. Larsson yesterday. He isn't known for his genius substitution policy, he's basically just taking a punt. If you're 2-1 down, leave your goal scorer on and take off somebody like Vaughan. Rafa Benitez (with Torres) syndrome.

    3. He is ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED with coming up with excuses in post-match interviews. He's not honest with himself, or his players. He keeps saying he doesn't know why this and he doesn't know why that. He does know, but he's too much of a coward to admit that he's monumentally (along with Niall Quinn) ****ed up the best squad Sunderland have had in years, which is a shame because he was certainly no coward on the pitch as a player.

    4. He gets tactically outsmarted by opposition managers, during the game. I don't think he has played one match this season where he has a tactical edge over his opposing manager. Even Gus Poyet of Brighton had him tied up in knots. There is the anomaly of Tony Pulis in there so I don't think this is too much of a problem providing his players can out-perform what's put in front of them without any managerial direction.

So there you have it, a recipe for a complete bottler and without any recognised leaders amongst the ranks, I think I'd be with what seems to be the majority of SAFC supporters now and say that his career at your club is all but over.

If you were manager you'd offer up every excuse in the book too. Unwashed have never recovered from Bent baling out. He covered up the cracks with his goals .

I can't believe this thread has descended into which city has the dirtiest river.

    Unbelievable, Jeff.

As a geordie i was sayiong he should be given a chance to turn it down but his days are numbered now for me as he's lost the confidence of everybody around him and most importantly the fans. when they start calling for your head its a matter of when not if and i think he's at that point now personally.

theres only o neil that could sort you out now that you have a realistic chance of getting.

I'll have you know that where I live there is a stream that is clean enough to produce bottled mineral water! Apart from the odd shopping basket thrown in for good measure (adds to the aluminium content).

I would argue that neither city has a river (whether dirty or not), but instead that it is the rivers that have a city, or in the case of the Wear, two cities.

Both rivers are a lot cleaner than they used to be and those further south in England.

So as line of argument, it is pointless.

<laugh> love it! Said you boys were obsessed ;)

Seriously though, give him a chance. You've just had major changes to your squad haven't you? Takes time to gel.

I'm not saying it's anywhere near the same, but look at spurs a few seasons ago, but as soon as they clicked..

Shame about your europe hope though ay, while we get relegated again? (appreciate you're not ALL that DELUDED - just can't remember the WUMs names)

    :)

Agree RE: Bent. He was excellent for you boys. And Cisse when he was on loan.

Not too fussed anyway TBH, more interested in us.

Worst one I saw (and I have no idea why this is a topic for discussion anyway) was in Drogheda, Ireland. I swear you could have actually walked across it on the shopping trolleys if you has something to protect you from the needles! No exaggeration!

Nice and clean now though! Impressed.

This is what happens when you debate the qualities of Brucie, the debate invariably goes off on a tangent. There are more excuses here than the constant stream (parden the pun) of post match excuses that Bruce serves up. We need to give them time to gel, to many injuries, poor decisions by the ref, on another day, luck wasn't with us!

I wonder which Newcastle player is going to get the blame by Bruce for Arsenal's win
