I'm not arguing that Bruce has wasted money but you questioned why Bruce's comments were interesting, so I explained. If you don't find them interesting then fair enough but others will.
One thing in Steve Bruces Favour is he has a decent record of getting promoted to the premier league and thats why i hope he stays at Hull City. Also if the Allams dont cough up the cash they will never get there money back. They need promotion more then we do.
Brucies lucky with Jake - at least he can blame the drugs for the loss of £8 mill as we would never have got anywhere near that if we tried to sell him anyway
You have highlighted there Egypt mentality, they want to show to all how wealthy they are, and in everyday life people bow and scrape to them. This is what happens in Egypt with wealthy people, and something they have not got to grips with in UK, that people generally do not revere them in the same way.
For me all Steve Bruce said was I don't want the Allams to sell I'm ambitious for Hull City and want the owners to be ambitious. If the Allams don't want promotion then I'll consider my position The price of relegation, we have to get players off the books before we can get any new ones in Some of our players can contractually leave if we get an high enough bid I'll find out the position regarding the potential sale and financial position on Thursday at the board meeting Brady has such a clause in his contract Not a lot really
A fair summary apart from the highlighted bit. Obviously every Chairman wants promotion, but to spend big after a poor return on last seasons spending means we will have to rein it in and Bruce is culpable for that.
My main criticism of the club is the timing of this meeting. 2 weeks before the start of the season. Why can't they have decided the budget for next season a week after relegation ? These owners have been in football nearly 5 years now and yet they don't seem to learnt anything about the game in those 5 years. They seem to lurch from one crisis to another without any forethought and have a complete lack of understanding of the unintended consequences of their decisions.
Maybe poorly worded, but I think he meant if they have a fire sale of our best players and they take their money back then I'll reconsider my position. Whether Steve Bruce is the right person to spend what money is available is another question.
How could they when we are at the mercy of the players wanting out, until we get an idea of who is going what can we do.
The budget depends on how many players we get rid off. The more players we sell the more money we have available to spend. How big the budget is not in their hands. The fair play rules mean that they cannot buy promotion like we did last time.
It's the other way round. Budget comes first. I know relegation comes with uncertainties but they should have made a decision 6 weeks ago then at least the management is given more time to move/bring players in rather then the 2 weeks Bruce will have before the first game.
Yes, if Ehab is ready to defend the ticket pricing policy with "it reflects our ambition", then he has to back it up with a decent transfer purse for SB..
Bruce said in Portugal that he had a few irons in the fire when asked about players coming in! So hopefully he's just waiting for the go ahead?
