"As one more appearance would trigger a new contract in wages which the club cannot really afford"

Is he on a stack then? Or are Pompey still on their arse finance wise?

    No thanks

Too old. I'd rather have Danns.

Pompey are in a similar state we were before the Allams arrived and they will be for a while.

SKY are usually accurate with their rumours so this is probably true. Brown certainly has the experience and is EXACTLY the type of player we need to captain and lead the side. At his age though, I assume we would only offer a short deal, so there may well be competition with somebody prepared to offer him longer.

Would do a good job. We need a couple of journeymen with experience.

    He's 34.

I don't think NP prefers his players young, I just think he's pragmatic. He must get value and pinching all of United's reserves, the loan market and freebies is accomplishing that.

Brown is free and would not command a long term contract at his age. I think he is a back-up in case Danns goes to Wolves.

Put like that, then I can see the logic in a punt for him.

If we're after a player like Brown, we might as well have gone after Bowyer.

I think Bowyer would cost a lot more that Brown. Anyway, I don't want racist scumbags playing for my Club.

Those stories of Aaron McLean showing off his Mandingo to Mrs. Pearson in the players lounge are completely unfounded!

I think OLM might be reffering to this (Brown's wikipedia page); "In 2003, he was arrested for indecent exposure in Sheffield town centre."

Don't rate the him anyway - he's past it at 34, bit of a journyman player and doesn't fit into Pearson's philosophy. Would have him instead of Harper for a season but it isn't exactly a long term investment.

Even though he's 34, he showed bags of energy in our home game against Pompey and stopped our midfield from playing, IMO. I think he'd be a decent addition to the squad as a whole. Sounds like we've had people down at Pompey and someone has got their wires crossed, as we've been linked with 2 of their players, my guess is we've had someone down at Pompey, but are only interested in 1 of them and someone has tried to guess which one.

I don't see why we have to have either a young side of potential players or a load of journeyman. Surely the best formula is to have some young hungry players and some experienced players who'll sort the young lads out. People suggesting NP should only buy young players is silly. Barmby, Pedersen, Okocha, Wayne Brown and Windass were all very good in a side that also contained younger players like Turner, Campbell and Ricketts.

Pretty much what TJ said, i'd rather have Mullins over Brown, given the choice.
