Sadly the cheap Spanish resorts have been quite hypocritical, over the years, regarding the Brits.

They've deliberately gone out to attract low rent tourists and provided cheap hotels/drink/food ...

... but throw up their hands in horror when people want to drink, eat and walk around in the sun with their shirts off.

It's all very well asking people to spend their holiday sitting in a room 24 hours a day but it's unreasonable. Being on the street, having a beer, isn't anymore dangerous than sitting in a hotel lobby, probably less so.

I don't believe it merits police, with truncheons, ordering people off the streets. There are more Spanish dog walkers out on the street than beer drinking Brits.

Surely tourists will have to be on the street to get a taxi, go to an airport, etc

The Spanish are passing the buck and trying to shift the blame onto foreigners ...

... exactly what we'd be ashamed of if it was us.

My brother in law is currently out there and has sent videos from his hotel, I’ve seen the vehicle going around with the warnings in Spanish and English, the streets appeared to be empty and it looked like a ghost town. It certainly doesn’t show Brits wandering around doing what they please.

I have seen videos of people wandering around being moved on by the police. Lots on the Benidorm seriously page on Facebook.
There are comments on there from people claiming they won’t have there holiday ruined for anyone etc. In fairness they are mostly being shot down by sensible people for their selfish attitude.
I still don’t think people have fully grasped how serious this is. It’s terrifying actually and people need to make sure they’re taking every step to ensure nth themselves and others stay safe.

Like I said the videos I’ve seen have shown it to look like a ghost town and nobody on the streets, that was yesterday and today.

There will always be gullible people who latch onto sensationalist clips and media reports and believe what's being said.

Most Brits abroad are decent people simply enjoying their holidays and making the best of a bad job.

RT UK Brits in Benidorm showing some of our cretins in their true colours. Absolute morons.
They are just a little window into what it’s going to be like over here in coming weeks with thick selfish d!ckheads refusing to do as they’re asked.

There's a bizarre amount of people that for some reason think they know best, even in the face of expert advise. They seem to think that because they looked out of their window and didn't see anyone with COVID-19, it must just be hyperbole.

A full lockdown is inevitable, sooner rather than later as well I suspect. People are unable to self police as like you say they obviously know better than the experts.
The collateral damage of this disease will most likely claim more lives than the disease itself.

The Spanish government certainly fit that description.

Despite knowing this lockdown would happen they couldn't resist those tourist euros and allowed people to flood in.

Now they're putting people under house arrest and using a few tourists as convenient scapegoats for gullible people to blame.

Having tourists cooped up in hotels is more dangerous than like minded people being in the open air.

If the Spanish don't want Brits there they should provide adequate transport so they can return home ....

..... "Long queues formed at Malaga Airport on Sunday as tourists cut short their holidays to escape the lockdown imposed by the Spanish government to fight the coronavirus crisis."

This is a very fluid situation. I Travelled back last Wednesday from canaries and the thought Of any kind of lockdown was unheard of to my knowledge. 3 days later and the drama unfolded. If you knew this lockdown was going to happen would you care to divulge your source?
We are in their country and being asked to do something but still some can’t accept that. It really does show a worrying mentality of some people.

On the heels of Italy, Spain to go drastic in battling virus
    Associated Press

At that point the Spanish had only restricted incoming flights from Italy.

Was that 4 days ago? So Saturday then which was when the vast majority of flights were cancelled.
I don’t think any flights have been allowed in since Saturday so I’m really not sure what your point is.
The vast majority have seemingly adhered to the rules but there’s still a thick minority which could potentially put others in danger. This will undoubtedly happen over here as well.
This is an unprecedented situation which is changing day on day and people need to grasp the severity and move with it.

It was Friday but they obviously didn't just wake up on Friday morning and decide.

At that point the only flight restrictions were on Italy.

They allowed incoming flights from the UK.

I'll guarantee there are unauthorised Spanish people outside but its typically sensationalist to highlight a handful of Brits.

If we did that with Chinese people, in the UK, you'd be on here accusing us of being racist.

"Police officers were stationed near the beach in Barcelona on Sunday to tell locals to head back home."

It’s changing day on day. Decisions seem to be being made very much ad hoc due to this unprecedented situation.
I’ll even humour you and say the Spanish government have been hypocritical that doesn’t mean people can then just do as they please in light of new evidence and advice.
Also don’t tell me what I’d be accusing people of. This isn’t about race it’s about people whichever country they’re in following the instructions of the governments in that country not just doing as they fancy.
Surely you agree those Brits wandering around boastfully ignoring instruction are idiots?

You don't need to humour me, you're highlighting Brits and ignoring the fact that Spanish people are doing exactly the same. The police seem to be equally as keen to point the finger at Brits.

"On Sunday, the local news media were already reporting some law-and-order contradictions. Police officers in Madrid let off some cyclists with a warning for taking an illegal leisure ride."

Do you even know what you’re arguing about now? This is about Brits behaving like nobheads abroad. Typical whataboutery from someone who I can only assume would be behaving the same way as these cretins if in the same situation.

I’ve been saying for years how Brits are becoming more and more arrogant and selfish , less willing to be educated from good advice , adding in an a attitude of rules and laws don’t apply to me if I don’t like them . This will be our problem .
Someone talking about their gym on tv this morning , The oldies have stayed away , the young ones are there without a care , saying “ we are young so we won’t get it . It’s something that’ll cull the oldies , they deserve it for what they’ve done to our planet”. Not all young will be irresponsible, but there will be too many.

These are reports of Spanish people <laugh>

I'll guarantee the Spanish, Basques, Catalans, etc, will start blaming each other and causing trouble ...

... much worse than a few Brits walking along the seafont.
