V well this is a game I think we will see out first three points at home for the first time this season- I would play the same eleven swapping Tanner with TGH personally think he offers us more going forward. 3-1 Bristol City Big crowd with 3500 Plymouth Argyle fans making the short journey up to Bristol.
A banana skin game if ever there was one and I don't expect Plymouth to lie down and keel over. However, on the other hand I would love a nice 3-1 win to make the next match trip a little less pressure packed up to Leicester. Come on lads show us this supposed improvement and prove you have the welly to stay up towards the top in this campaign. After your posting that the match is available on Argyle TV does that mean it will not be on Robins TV? I just checked on BCFC site and it doesn't look like they will cover the match and I don't understand why, because the only games I don't get are Cup games and ones covered by other channels such as Sky Sports. Mystery and annoyance at the same time and apparently the next game on BCFC site is Leicester.
I'll watch it on Argyle TV then and perhaps the commentary will be better, and if it should pop up on Robins TV then I have supported Plymouth with my 10 quid, so they better not win.
‘A glimmer of hope’ – Bristol City vs Plymouth Argyle prediction: The72 https://the72.co.uk/2023/09/18/bristol-city-vs-plymouth-argyle-prediction-the72/
I think there will be goals in this one Plymouth score and concede a few too 2-1 City Let’s hope for a home win and a decent performance too ! Up the City
No better time to get our first home win of the season.. Taking 4 points from the two home games wouldn't be a bad thing, only taking the one would be a total setback IMO. I'm expecting a decent win & performance..
'Like a teenager' - Bristol City receive injury boost ahead of Plymouth Argyle clash Andi Weimann has made two short appearances for Bristol City this season due to issues with his heel and the base of his foot https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/bristol-city-injury-plymouth-argyle-8760401 Andi Weimann fit for Plymouth game.
I want a win as much as anyone, but I see a score draw here tbh. Plymouth are not a bad side, and were very unlucky to lose their last 2 away games. They have sold their 3000 ticket allocation comfortably so will be backed by a large following, this is their nearest Championship game, so a bit of a 'cup final' for them.
Nige’s Notes – Plymouth Argyle The relentless nature of the Championship means we are heading into our second game in four days, against Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday evening. We extend a warm welcome to Steven Schumacher, his staff, players and Pilgrims fans, who will travel in great numbers for Argyle’s first league game at Ashton Gate in 14 years. There’s not been a lot of time to dwell on Saturday’s draw with West Bromwich Albion but just a few thoughts. It was a very good Championship game. We played with a lot of energy and created a lot of chances. The players get frustrated when we don’t back up what was a fantastic win at Swansea City. I look at it with a bit more of rounded view. Of course we have to start winning these games at home but I was generally pleased with what I saw. We do believe that if we stay true to what we want to do then that first home league win will come. It will turn for us if we continue to be brave. I never have complaints where we’ve performed in a way with enough desire and a willingness to play the way we need to play. There will be occasions, and I guess you can say Saturday was one of them, where we’ve done what we’ve talked about doing but it still hasn’t gone for us. We can’t ask a lot more from the players than what we’ve had but sometimes those key moments go against you and we’ve got to do more to make them go for us. At the moment we are are short of that added ingredient, which is being clinical in front of goal, but the important thing is that we are creating opportunities. The players are very much switched on and together as a group and are looking forward to getting back out at Ashton Gate. Enjoy the game and thank you as always for your support. Cheers, Nige https://www.bcfc.co.uk/city-men-news/niges-notes/
Bristol City (A) | Schumacher's Preview After Tuesday night’s game at Bristol City, Argyle will have played in front of an accumulative total of nearly 6,000 of the Green Army. Almost 3,000 supporters made the trip to Preston North End on Saturday, and slightly more will be filling the Ashton Gate away end just three days later. Pilgrims boss Steven Schumacher says that he and the players are keen to reward traveling supporters with their first away win of the season when they head up the M5 to Bristol on Tuesday, but has taken heart from the quality of road performances thus far in the campaign. “I can't thank [the fans] enough for the support once again,” he said. “The way that we're playing, the way that the team are playing, the football that we're playing, I think everyone's enjoying coming to watch us. “The amount of phone calls and text messages of people who went to the game on Saturday, who praised how we played and said we probably should have taken something from the game was mad. “Ultimately, we know as a team that with this support that we're getting and the way we're playing, we need to start getting more points as well, so we can enjoy the game and enjoy the experience, rather than coming home with nothing to show for our efforts.” Argyle have not won away from home yet this season, but Bristol City are also yet to win at their own ground thus far. They have two draws and a defeat from their trio of home fixtures, but have picked up seven points from nine on their travels. Sitting 10th in this early stage in the league table, having finished 14th last term, City are the kind of established Championship side Argyle can aspire to, but Schumacher takes confidence from how his side have played at similar hosts so far. On City, Schumacher said: “I think they're a really well organised, well coached, established, experienced Championship team. I think over the years they've got better. “We know it's going to be a tough game. They're always strong, they're always there and thereabouts in the division. We know it will be a hard game. With the quality players that they've got, they haven't had a massive turnaround in their squad. “We know it's going to be a hard game, but like all the other games, when we go to Birmingham, Watford, Preston, we can go there with confidence, thinking that if we play the way we play, then we can cause them one or two problems. That'll be the message to the lads: keep believing in what we're doing and try to get better in on the small details where we can. “We don't have to rip anything up, but we're also aware that we need to get better in certain moments of the game. There are instances where we can look after the ball better in our own half, be a bit more secure on it if we can. As we found out, if we give the ball away, then quality teams can hurt you. “When we get to the top end of the pitch, in the 18-yard box, we need to tighten up a little bit as well, because some of the areas that we're getting into, we're not getting enough from our opportunities. We want to get into these areas, continue to cause teams problems, but also execute the chances that we’re getting.” https://www.pafc.co.uk/news/bristol-city-schumachers-preview
'....Argyle have not won away from home yet this season, but Bristol City are also yet to win at their own ground thus far...' That's it then - a draw it is !!!!!
'We do believe that if we stay true to what we want to do then that first home league win will come.' You've got to believe....
We need to see some evidence from the team to help fire the belief. Our home form has been below par for well over a year now.
You're so right but to be positive our season record on league games so far is DWLDWD, not bad eh, home form is bad and needs to be improved, it very well could start tonight and it would make our seasons performance so far very bright and completely different.
