Evening all, just popped by to see how our former players are doing? For what I see on tv/papers Skuse and Gerken are regulars and Anderson is in and out? Could be wrong but would be great to know how our old boys are doing. If you're wondering about JET.... Well last season he bagged 21 goals and along with Baldock they were the 3rd highest goal scoring strike partnership in England! was phenomenal to watch and could change/win the game for us in the blink of an eye. Only trouble was that those "magical moments" were about the only thing he contributed. He would play 90 minutes do nothing for 88 of them but in the 2 minutes he did it was worth paying to see. This season however he hasn't started a league game. Gets 5 minutes off the bench here and there and it seems his days in Bristol are numbered. Shame really as if he played for 90 minutes he would be an amazing player and probably playing his trade in the prem... but for some reason he doesn't have the motivation to change his ways and league 1 is probably where he'll be playing next year (hopefully not with us as we, fingers crossed, will be back in the championship) Well anyway, thanks for advance for any info on the trio and how they've done for you. Thanks Shiny,Skuse seems to be McCarthy's golden boy steady as holding CM but God is he boring anything other than sideways or back pass seems to beyond his radar,Gherks seems to have fallen out of favour really, if you want him loaned back,feel free.Anderson is another in a long string of meh midfielders we seem to employ but fits into the present plan quite well.
Hope you make it back to the championship next season but hopefully we won't see you because we'll be jumping up a league too. Can't say I'm surprised to hear about JET, that's pretty much how he was with us and as you say, if he applied himself for a full ninety minutes, combined with his ability, then he would be playing at a higher level. He kind of reminds of Balotelli and if Mario doesn't change his attitude his career will go the same way. The three players you sent our way have all done OK. Ando has got better and has been putting some great dead ball deliveries into the box this season. I prefer having him putting in a shift over JET's rare moments of magic. Gerks helped get us into a strong position in the league but then an injury let Billy (Bialkowski) into the team and he has been ousted. Both are great shop stoppers but Billy is so much better at crosses and general decision making under pressure, I think Gerks is our number two now, you kind of always feel that a big blunder is never far away with him. Skuse, as Bigal said, is our water carrier. Nothing flash, nothing risky but efficient and an integral member of the first eleven. He acts as a screen for our backline which allows others freedom to get forward. Most on here think he's capable of more but he's good at what he does. All three have contributed quite a bit this season to our overall form but none of them are really standout players.
Ipswich fan from the Bristol area here I like Skuse, tidy and ticks us over. Gherken is decent, good shot stopper. Ando offers good delivery! Ah JET. I was at City v Telford, he was CM in a midfield two! Sadly, I also saw him at 4.30 in the morning same day as the cup tie in motion, he was in a right old state but a nice lad. Sums up his attitude to the game being in a sorry state hours before kick off. Shame.
