A Bristol City view on a most dislikable XI - can't wait to see who you all come up with as alternatives, could be a long list!! http://aunitedview.blogspot.com/2011/07/my-dislikable-xi-number-11-exiled-robin.html?m=0 Cheers Cider1977 (The Exiled Robin)
I immediately thought of Alexander when I read your blog, remember when he got knocked out and swallowed his false teeth and nearly died It would've been avoided if he wasn't so vain, or even brushed his teeth... typical sag. Glad he didn't die though (just)
I actually played against Ian Alexander twice. He played for a village team called Hawkesbury about 10 or 11 years ago.......I was gracing the playing fields of Berkeley Nuclear Power Station for 'Nuclear Sports and Social Club FC 2nd XI' or 'Snorts' as we were known in Stroud League 7 (was there ever a finer name for a football team?!). Any way Alexander turned out for Hawkesbury that season. Fair play he didn't do much running but he could hit a ball for bloody miles.......right out of the Rovers training manual I should think.
In all fairness, every fan loves a player like that twat as long as he's playing for your team. Bit like Neil Warnock really.
Your're not wrong Natchawldry.........it's amazing what good I can find in the dirtiest, clumsiest player so long as he's wearing a City shirt.....he's got to be a trier at least though.
I couldn't have come up with a better example! Does the fella still earn a living out of the game? He was at Tranmere last I heard of him. Useless but somehow very likeable
Bas is a legend in his own lifetime, Last I heard he was playing for Dagenham & Red. And was released end of last season shame a loss to football if he can not find another club
Last time I saw him he was on Soccer AM. footballing skills may not be great but he is fabulous at falling over and moonwalking. and don't even talk about the spiderman hair cut?
Has anyone noticed that people seem to have softened to Ian Holloway? Ten years ago he was probably the most hated of all the enemies of Bristol City.
In no particular order; Michael Chopra, Sharpe, Holloway, Penrice, Alexander, Twentypence, Bannister, G Neville and Mark Hughes... just for starters off the top of my head.
Nearly had Chopra in there, very nearly. And couldn't include Bas as although he was useless no-one disliked him, he's a cult hero!
Does anyone recall us beating Millwall at home 4-3 (Lee Matthews pen in added on time I think) on Tuesday night a few seasons back? I seem to remember the Millwall team damaging the changing room whilst their fans ripped up the Eastend......that team, on that night must be in the frame.
.......was that the year we went to Reading and won 1-3, another belter of a night......or am I muddling up my seasons, I'm really good at that.
Yeah im pretty sure we did beat reading 1 3 at there brand new stadium then i remember alot of city going up for that game is was a mid week match same as millwall
