  1. I was wondering how members feel about Nicklas Bendtner.

Yes he's self-assured, yes he has an ego and he certainly hates to be criticised but if his game turns around at Sunderland, would you wish he came back after his loan spell? He has said he would never play for us again but talk always happens, especially if the one who is talking has a grievance. It seems to have some legitimacy if you consider that he had scored some very important goals for us, saved our bacon in some of these games too so he may feel he is due some consideration. Then again some may say he is not sufficiently consistent but that as you know, could be down to a lack of starts.

So what do you think pals?

Would you like him back if he shows his class at Sunderland?

Didn't he say he would never return to Arsenal or was that taken out of context as usual?

I actually like the striker, I rate him highly.

  3. It seemed to be widely reported that he was miffed at not being selected in starting XIs often enough and vowed never to play for us again. But that was a week or so ago and you never know what the state of play is in a year's time.

I'm really surprised Arsene had not chosen to use more variations in his tactics. Perhaps if he had tried RvP in a free role and used Bendtner up front just to see how it worked, who knows what may have transpired as a result. RvP in a free role is something that should be tried out at the earliest opportunity.

I would take him back as a 2nd choice striker but I don't think he would accept that role.

no thanks he missed so many chances- and first touch was non-existant. A big-head with no reason to have an ego.
    Bye bye....

He will score goals for Sunderland. He isnt quite good enough for Arsenal but will prove to be consistent scorer in this league with Sunderland.

I'd have him back, hes a great player, just doesn't get enough time to show it

anyone here that plays football, don't play for months then try play in the middle of a game while everyone else are already warmed up an goin etc an see how good your touch etc is

he's like walcott, has shown what he can do with great bits of skill, goals etc but doesnt get constant games to show it properly

him infront of RVP could work out well, RVP gets his prefered role and freedom and bendtner gets his prefered role and able to get a few games in a row, and use his height etc

  8. Ditto Mr Wright

If we don't try we'll never know but who knows what we might get if we try.

He's not good enough to start for arsenal its that simple. He's also arrogant and bad for team moral.

its hard to tell just how good Bendtner will be as he does have the potential to be world class. personally i think its not worth the hassel of holding on to a player with such a bad attitude.

  10. Did he display this level of attitude while with us? I thought he was the quiet type. I do recall a recent article by Havard Nordveit that he wasn't very open to criticism. I just felt that he hadn't enough time on the pitch which counted against his ability to show what he could do. That and I was always grateful to him for the goals which he did score that saved our bacon on those particular occasions. If his attitude is disruptive then it does throw a different light on the matter. We've had enough of those types.

OK - someone do the stats. Show me he didn't have chances.

2010/11 How many appearances / How many times started / how many times on as sub / how many minutes on pitch total?
2009/10 How many appearances / How many times started / how many times on as sub / how many minutes on pitch total?
2008/9 How many appearances / How many times started / how many times on as sub / how many minutes on pitch total?
2007/8 How many appearances / How many times started / how many times on as sub / how many minutes on pitch total?

I always thought that he was confident in his ability rather than arrogant. May have been wrong though.

No he is very arrogant to be honest. If he ready to stay at Arsenal, Arsene wouldn't have spend a lot on strikers. But I thanks God, Ju Park will do all what we need, to score goals

    in the premier league....

    2007-2008 7 starts 20 subs - 5 goals
    2008-2009 17 starts 14 subs - 9 goals
    2009-2010 13 starts 10 subs - 6 goals
    2010-2011 3 starts 14 subs - 2 goals

    total - 40 starts - 59 subs - 22 goals

the joy of facts - Twist it in bendtners favor and...
    07-08 5 goals in 7 starts
    08-09 9 goals 17 starts
    09-10 6 goals 13 starts
    10-11 2 goals 3 starts

It's more of a point of how the starts/subs came about tho, like 1 at the start of march, 2 in the middle of june, 1 in december etc constant stop start etc, also quite alot out of position

  16. I recall that at one stage, probably around the 2009/2010 season, he began to be a little better appreciated amongst the fans and indeed the media too. Last year he played very sporadically and understandably became somewhat rusty when called upon. So in my mind, he can hardly be blamed for underperforming especially too if he is played out of position.

Thanks for the stats Mr Wright.

Thanks very much for the stats work.
My point is that in the 2 seasons 2008/9 and 2009/10 he had 30 starts and 24 more as sub.
Thats a lot of chances !!! - yes scored 15 goals but I know he missed a hell of a lot of 'sitters'.
Hence little used in the last season.

I think he was also injured for most of last season after the world cup (certainly at the start when RVP was out) so he could of had his chances then if he wasn't out.

You can't really complain about lack of chances when you are injured at the same time as the guy you are hoping to replace

  19. That's a point too. Sometimes somethings are perhaps not meant to be. One thing though is that he shouldn't have mouthed off as he did in the previous week. You never know who you'll need in the days to come so in NB's case if he can't think of anything nice to say about his previous season with us then perhaps he just shouldn't say anything at all :emoticon-0127-lipss

Our team is clearly not as strong as it used to be. So what we need to do is build a strong collective bond within the squad. The 'us against them' mentally needs to be in our squad. When you want that mentally the last thing you need is Bendtner sulking in the background because he can't get in the team ahead of Van Persie.
