One Mr Graham Turner if he carries on presiding over shambolic performances like we've just witnessed today! Why oh why did he move SKS and upset the back four with Jackobson out? Why did he pull the Team out of the Reserves league and prevent those who needed it from gaining match fitness? Why bring on substitutes with 5 minutes to go? We've got a dearth of strikers at present and none of them can live up to their billing, why so? To be fair to Gornell, at least he looked like he might pose a threat although I'd give him a good spanking for diving. As for Morgan, he can't do anything right at present, best stick to selling T shirts and Beanies. Wright and Ainsworth are hardly scaring defenders and sadly the youngsters are showing their inexperience. Without Wroe the centre midfield again looks frail with Richards trying to do his best, whilst others seem to be on another wave length. I'm completely at a loss to explain this dramatic loss in form which doesn't seem to be coming to an end as we've started leaking goals again and can't score at the other end either.
thanks tinned hats for giving aj his first laugh since blackburn won away at man u. i understand gt has been given 10k and told to give back the 3k change
Not sure that throwing money in to the equation would help - GT needs to wring every ounce of talent, skill, belief, resolve, committment etc, etc, etc, etc out of this current batch of misfiring STFC players. It's just like Ground Hog days as I feel that there's been a similar scenerio in previous seasons with different managers.
by the law of averages 2 of our 5 strikers should be capable of firing 'em in or is gt wrestling with a ****el engine where none of the cylinders fire we really are missing wroe who will be out for some time. we need a loanee. and aj has had another laugh, fulham have beaten the gunners
I agree about the reserves. Never thought it was a good idea when it was first decided. The youth team also appear to be doing poorly this season. In defence of today. The back four sorted itself out by the second half. Richards was outstanding in midfield. Wright looked very tired throughout. Ainsworth is still our only real quality forward player and beat a man virtually every time he took one on today which was frequently, He delivered a reasonable number of quality crosses. We missed loads of chances but their keeper also played a blinder and on a different day rebounds would have fallen more kindly for us.
Missing loads of chances seems to be the current theme. OK we banged in a few against The Cobblers a while back but since then we've huffed and puffed with the odd goal or two. Decision making is awful at times, Wright and Morgan were the cuplrits today but it's been endemic with most of the forward players for weeks. They seem to lack confidence in their own abilities (or those of their colleagues) and either have a pop from ridiculous distances or stop and check only to be pounced on by a defender. I rabbit on about our pathetic goal tally from corners, but not since the days of Coughlan have we had someone who's not afraid to launch himself in the box; it's not good enough as we win a huge number of corners throughout a season and get little in return. It's hard not to be a bit negative at present, but watching Town is painful at the moment as the lads seem to have lost their way - anyone got a map?
I think as much out of necessity - as I said on another thread, I thought he didn't look at all up for it, he didn't work hard (although still beat his man regularly) and his crosses were worse than usual.
he has been towns main saviour at times, he is allowed an off game the trouble is when 10 others choose the same day. still all will be ok at boro, uncle graham has a cunning plan beginning 4-3-3!!
The last 2 games Ainsworth has played at home the team has had 43 attempts at goal. The intervening match in which he did not appear there were 13 attempts on goal. By sticking to the wing (presumably what he is told to do) and stretching the defence, whilst "appearing to look disinterested", clearly works. What doesn't work is running around fruitlessly like a blue assed fly.
I do agree, I just thought yesterday he wasn't at his best, and there was one incident I remember when he could have easily got on the end of a through ball from Richards but didn't make any attempt to get to the ball.
That through ball was directly in front of me and he didn't have a snowball's of getting it but it did not stop the moaners around from having a go at him. Bring back Frank Whittle. We need him to adapt his jet engine for Lionel's heels.
OK, fair enough - from where I was sat looked like he could have got to it, but I can accept that I can't be right about everything However, I still think losing Lionel isn't the end of our hopes of the top three as many who sit around me seem to think.
