Brighton and Watford go head to head at Amex Stadium in what is expected to be an interesting Premier League encounter. The Seagulls came from behind to beat Burnley on the road in their opener, with the team showing character in the second half. The Hornets, on the other hand, did well to beat Aston Villa 3-2 in the opening match of the season. The newcomers are a real force to be reckoned with at home, but they will have a mountain to climb in the Amex Stadium clash. Three of the last six league meetings between these two clubs have ended in stalemates, including the duo's last encounter back in 2020 which ended 1-1. Three of Brighton's last six fixtures have ended with both teams finding the back of the net and the same can be said for four of Watford's last five matches. Both teams have only managed to keep one clean sheet in their last five attempts, so there is a great chance that there will be goals in this game for both clubs. What did we learn about Watford from the opening game? We appear to have some good new players, and the forward line looks dangerous. How much of this was due to Villas hopeless first half defensive display remains to be seen. Brighton are unlikely to be so generous. Our officials: Referee: Anthony Taylor. Assistants: Gary Beswick, Adam Nunn. Fourth official: John Brooks. Taylor started refereeing in the North Premier League from 2002 to 2004 before being given a chance to take control of Conference matches. It took only two years to gain a further promotion and officiate in the Football League for the first time. ENJOY THE GAME WHEREVER YOU MIGHT BE
Team News: The Hornets are boosted by the news that both Joshua King and Kiko Femenía have returned to full training this week and will be available for the weekend visit to the Amex Stadium. Full-back Femenía wasn't risked in the season opener at Vicarage Road after his injury at the end of last season and striker King missed out with a minor groin problem. Midfielder Juraj Kucka is a doubt for the trip to Brighton however with a minor thigh muscle injury. He will be assessed before the weekend. João Pedro is continuing his recovery from a knee injury sustained last month. He is running in the gym and will begin working outside on the pitches next week. Nathaniel Chalobah will once again not be available due to illness.
Thanks OFH. Wonder what is wrong with Chabs? Looser in for Kucha (if needed) and Kiko for Cathcart. Simples. COYH got a bottle of Tequila riding on this one!
I agree. Not just points for us away from home, but points denied to Brighton at home. I expect them to be in the mix with us for the fight for 17th.
Good news - Lawro has us down to lose. “Watford surprised me against Villa but I don't see them getting too many points on the road. This might be one of the games the Hornets see as winnable, though, so it could turn out to be a little bit more open than people expect”
I’m not a gambling man, but Brighton 7/10 on to beat us! We are 5/1 to win! Whhaaaaatt?? I’d have a tenner on us there.
I wonder how surprised he was when we put three goals past his beloved Liverpool three times in five years
Since it's on sky, can you still buy a £10 pass for Now tv to watch it ? Or do you have to sign up... ? Or can you get the free trial and then cancel afterwards?
Very as he seems to predict them to win every game! Going by this Tweet I presume we might be wearing our away kit?
Watford XI: Bachmann, Etebo, Ekong, Louza, Cleverley, Masina, Sema, Cathcart, Sarr, Dennis, Kabasele Subs: Foster, Ngakia, Rose, King, Deeney, Fletcher, Hernandez, Sierralta, Baah
