Whoever said "I fancy Brighton to follow Norwich with back to back promotion!"

They scored their winner today in the 98th minute!

    Remind you of anyone?

Ha ha! Looks like their rollercoaster ride has firmly started! Just seen the highlights on Final Score... fantastic new stadium, Gus Poyet sent to the stands, 1 nil down, Will Buckley enters the field, he scores a superb volley to equalise and then scores the winner right at the death! Their fans must have left the Amex with no voice and absolutely buzzing, somewhat like 27,000 at CR most weeks last season!! Games like that is why we all love football (and hate it, the poor Doncaster fans!)!!!

As a born and bred Brightonian, with friends and family that are fanatic followers, having attended a few games myself down the years when footballing life in Norwich is lulled, i'm quite well acquainted with their progress under Poyet. They've got a fantastic side, especially up front, and when they're granted a reprieve from the footballing Gods and the injuries heal up with Greer and El-Abd, they'll have a very solid back line too.

A distinction to draw between us and them is that we retained our group of players, whereas Brighton have had to replace some of their key players (with quaity mind) - the likes of Bennett and Murray with Hoskins, Buckley and Mackail-Smith, among others. Nonetheless, they've integrated well during pre-season with good perforamnces against the likes of Tottenham and Paris Saint-German, and probably an overall improvement (though i reckon they'll miss Bennett).

Getting LuaLua back on loan is another real coup of theirs (and one i'd certainly liked to have seen come to Carrow Road).

They've been playing continental football more successfully than any football side outside the Premier League since the start of last season, and i expect that they'll surprise many this season.

I personally reckon they'll at least make the play-offs, more than likely contending with the automatics at stages, regardless of the strength of the second tier at the moment. If we proved anything last season, it was that in this game where 11 men play 11, it's not history, expectation, or even money that takes precedence, but preparation; they've certainly made that.

Brighton are tipped to do well and I think they will but trying to take the "score late" identity from us is out of order. Not cool Brighton

We see your 98minutes and raise you 30 seconds!

Don't get too excited. They only just scraped past 10 man Doncaster Reserves.

To be honest, I don't think we were that excited.

I watched this game and really thought Seagulls were poor for the first 70 minutes or so and Doncaster didn't look much better (God knows how I watched all of it!).
They will not have a great season if they perform the same against better sides, that is for certain but it is near impossible to accurately assess a team on the first day.
