No one big al, there's no one in the first team either, but what good is Williams' flair and commitment to our promotion challenge next season?

Perhaps Mick is beginning to realise he is in the entertainment business and needs to do something other than grind out results to get the crowds back?

Greetings all, well, that was a surprise, and usually I can get to "Local games" but not this time. Impressive result and def keeps us in the mix - I agree with most but not all in that we still do have a good crack at the whip: reasons?

Lots of games to go - Reading & Wigan have tricky games to come, as we do of course; very unpredictable this Championship - We are doing this and scoring goals without our Golden Boots boy! - great team spirit obviously - All professiponal players prefer to be still competing for important games at rum end of a long season - Derby is v tough one to call, but if we are on a roll, we might just nick it...home advantage etc... - Then Notts Forest, which on current form is def poss 3 pts - If we keep up with the main pack steady as we go, we could just catch either Reading or Wigan.

TBH my view has been since August, and unchanged, that if we finish an enjoyable top 10...even 7th or 8th, this is a massive improvement from all at the Club.

I too like many wish that MM would show more flair; perhaps with nowt to lose, he may well show even more attack minded formations.

I shall try to get up to PR next Saturday, so if anyone fancies a pint before, let me know. <cheers>

Erm I'm not saying Taylor or Wordsworth could've done something similar but they are 2 players we've had who could've added a little extra to the team. Before he came to us Taylor was rated as one of the best talents in the division, infact I was surprised when we got him there were rumours he'd go to a PL team yet he's not even good enough for our bench when actually generally in the handful of starts he's played for us (initially under Jewell and the MOTM display a couple of weeks ago) he's looked very good, I geuss he's just not a Mick style player. Wordsworth could also play in that position.

Clearly the writing is on the wall for Taylor

Injecting flair into a team is more than just about getting the right players, it's about the mentality of the team and how the manager wants to play. Yes the better players you get the more likely the team is going to create something like Williams did yesterday, it seems this is what Mick relies on in his teams being solid and then having the odd player who can produce a bit of individual brilliance. In a way to me it seems like to Mick defending is a team thing and attacking is down to a couple of individuals.

Look at the difference between styles of play when we've swapped managers even with the same players under Jewell we went from playing tippy tappy attacking football with an awful defence to having a really really solid defence but not alot going forwards with the same players. Under Mick I suspect the more players he gets the slightly better football we will play but we'll never be a progressive attackin passing team under Mick it's just not his way, he'll aways prefer workers over talent.

To me it seems he judges players more on what they do off the ball than on it. For example yesterday when we were out of possession our shape was superb we had 2 banks of 4 and we kept our shape trouble was in possession it stayed pretty much the same, very rigid there was a big lack of passing and movement, it was about the percentages much like how we played under Keane however the big difference is Mick is a far better manager and is far better at deploying it.

Great to see Woody get a game, I don't think anyone saw that coming..

It's also interesting to see that (according to the rarely reliable) BBC stats, we had 35% possession, which is no real surprise but you could very much argue that with players like Wordsworth and Williams our 35% possession is more efficient (purposeful) than if we had Skuse or Tabb etc.

A great Saturday for us and keeps the interest up going into the next 2 matches, as long as everyone else around us sees us as play off contenders I'll be happy with that..

Also, did anyone hear on Talksport on Saturday when they said "There has been a shock result at the Amex, where play off chasing Brighton lost 2-0 to Ipswich" I wasn't aware that 9th place beating 8th place could be considered as a shock result?

    Hilarious.

It was a pretty one sided game but we were solid and kept their chances to a minimum, but I don't think you can put a positive spin on the amount of possession that they had, we were lacklustre. We're always going to be a threat off corners and the second was a proper touch of class.

I was not all impressed with their Manager's comments afterwards!

Perhaps we need to send Garcia a big bag of sugar to sweeten those ever so sour grapes! <ok>

The positive spin is that we scored 2 and conceded nil! <ok> I will take being 'lacklustre' but winning!

This was a classic Away team performance for christs sake!

I know what you're saying, but that kind of performance won't get results against good sides - we need every man on the park to give what Jonny did.

They were under Poyet, they're a bit of a shadow of their former selves now.

Hampy they have kept 17 clean sheets this season so we must have played bloody well to score 2 against them and 4 if you include the home game last September! <ok>

Sorry mate but there are no negatives from Saturday's result as far as I can see! Just so sick to death of all the unwarranted negativity.

I'm sure I'm wrong but it does seem that some people are more concerned about having their predictions come true than to see us win games and do something this season......

Do what weighty? Make the play offs? Get real.

We are always going to be a threat from corners and the second goal was incredible, but we didn't create anything else.

    You can't polish a turd.

Given the total lack of money we have spent this year why cant we just enjoy the fact that we are doing really well and that there is absolutely no pressure on us! We are total rank outsiders to grab a playoff spot so why cant we just enjoy the excitement of just being in the mix!

I'll tell you one thing, it's nice knowing we have a chance of scoring from set pieces nowadays.
It wasn't that long ago that Leadboots was hitting the first man with every dead ball situation but now we are a danger every time.
