Bare bones: 1) There was originally enough money in the club to satisfy the Football League 2) Now there isn't because Brent's had to put more in. 3) Brent won't have received anything whatsoever from PAFC, he can't have because it's clearly making a loss and therefore any distribution would be illegal. On a point of order, I am NOT blaming anyone for not attending, collectively or as individuals. It's their decision. However, I am pointing out that the inescapable fact that it will certainly be detrimental to the club and precisely that Brent is not the kind of owner who's going to subsidise it in the medium term, let alone the long term. I'm saying he only took the club on in the first case to get the property deals and the club is worthless to him once they're done - well in fact, it's worthless to anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together, so don't bank on another buyer coming along. If it's awkward to draw people's attention to the facts, well so be it. I fail to see what's controversial about that, provided your not letting your emotions run riot, or that it makes me a Brent sycophant. Christ, there are people on here who think that Brent gives a rat's *** if they withdraw their custom and he'll go running to the cashpoint to put it all right. Not after he gets planning permission he won't..... If he over-estimated the likely gate figures, that ever so conveniently means he put one over on the Football League. If he'd put in a lower number, they's have asked for more cash up front, with the danger that the money got stuck in the club and he couldn't get it back out. As it stands, he may have to subsidise the club on a month-by-month basis until he gets planning permission but he only ever puts in the minimum necessary. Now I can't say he did that deliberately but you see, things are potentially worse than you think they are.
Who says Brent has had to put more in? I am not going to accept that he has other than the residue of the money gained from PCC. The problem is notdistant that I am thinking Brent doesn't give a rats arse about the football bit. But lets look at some other possibility regarding his outside interests. When Heaney was looking like a contender, people sussed him out and were not happy with what they saw. These were PAFC suporters not the Admin people. The "Dogs of War" were unleashed and his life was made uncomfortable until eventually he pushed off with his tail between his legs forced by the weight of what went on. What went on was a campaign if you didn't already know. If Brent looks like being Heaney with a different disguise don't bank on his planning permission just being allowed with no campaign and objection. The Dogs are quite well versed in putting a boot in where it hurts and they have a modicum of knowledge on where to aim. They were very astute at it previously. Brent may not be allowed to just get his way and PCC may not be quite so accommodating if it looks like he is letting the club die on it's feet. PAFC may die but Brent may not get rich quick out of it either. All sounds a bit dramatic I know but all I can say is watch this space and it may be truer than you might imagine. There are also some supporters with some financial clout who have handed over quite a bit to various Argyle causes up to now so price to make life very difficult might not be a sticking point either.
Well, if people didn't understand Brent then it's their problem - didn't we discuss that very subject here at the time? If the rabid dogs let loose, the solution for Brent is very very simple. Cut his losses & sell the sites on to another developer with the groundwork done. Sales of that kind are very very common in the property development business. The council want these things to happen after all and the sites are separate from the football ground. So with any political mad-dog related embarrassment removed, they'd let the development go ahead. Brent then just has the football club on his hands and he'll let that sink in a mess of its fans own making. Job done. If the club isn't in a stable financial position by then, the stay-aways will have sunk their own club. Even if it is, the removal of Brent's backing might be enough to get us expelled from the League. If that doesn't happen, it's questionable whether the commitment to build a new stand would transfer to the new developers. All in all an excellent plan.
It's not a plan or job done notdistant. What it is exactly is people not wanting Brent to walk away with his pockets full and let the club die when they can make it difficult and he walks away with little and the club dies anyway. The only up side is that Brent doesn't make loads out of the death of the club if it is left to die. Not a happy ending I know and they know but rather that than sit back and do nothing. I read this on other sites and nobody wants to have to do any of it but the trust in Brent school is just not there now as it was for Stapleton at one time. They basically don't trust anyone. Not wholely surprising given what happened and is happening.
