Can I have that in writing please Mrs LaLa.............on second thoughts that is what you've just done.........doh.
Peter Ridsdale to Fletcher tomorrow morning "can I just have a quick word Carl" (before the hastily arranged press conference).
Not yet but probably soon if these performances continue. There will be no use doing something on the next transfer window. Fletcher will line up signings just as they are showing him a door and then any new man will not have any choice of their own. If they have to get rid then it will be best after the next debacle coming to a pitch near us soon. Northampton got dicked 7 - 2 last weekend and have a temp manager. If the result goes wrong on Saturday with a team ripe for plucking then I cannot see how the axe will not fall. Part of our problem before was sticking with inexperience that wasn't working for far too long. We will then see if there is any money at all in a pot because to change things will cost.
The good news I suppose is that with some many loan players there's still a good deal of flexibility come January. I do agree though that whoever takes the squad up to and through that critical period has to be a credible manager who's going to get the decisions right first time. Also there are a lot of games over the Christmas & New Year period which we need points from. I'd guess Fletcher ought to be allowed no more than 3 weekends to show some progress. Of course, if a new manager is to be able to choose his own players, we don't need Ridsdale interfering. Time for him to go now.
It was Ridsdale who was on the phone with Millwall regularly........seeing Purse was at Cardiff at the same time..........Fletcher has spoken to Sean O'Driscoll asking his views on the team..........they were at Bournemouth at the same time.............hard to see what other contacts Fletcher would have as a new manager.
