7-0 thrashing at the hands of Barca I know they're good but that man has no idea how to set a team up to defend....and that's a must in Europe.
Yep, it was too much and now that it's gone a bit wrong he's putting himself under pressure, sounds familiar doesn't it.
Celtic are and have been woeful and the not ao secret fact is just getting into the group stages is a huge improvement for them and wirth a lot of cash. They are going to be torn to shreds in this cl especially away... and i was a long standing rogers must go person... its not just him is it. None of them are any good as their league is SO uncompetitive with even the chanpionship that theyve all sunk to a pish level. They need europe to teach them but its a harsh lesson.
Rodgers really needs to bring in quality defensive coaches around him. He has the makings of a really good coach but he's tactically and defensively inept.
They're not even that imo. Their current side would be relegation fodder in the PL, they're an upper level Championship side.
no he doesn't he needs to LEARN HOW TO SET UP A DEFENSE HIMSELF. you cannot go to barca completely open with technical donkey and expect barca to let them play. Other managers pumped the ball out over the sideline for 90mins with 10 men behind the ball minimum and come away with a 2-0 loss... Its that simple. he's ****e all screen, kolo tourse in cb getting run about etc etc etc...
No - not all managers have the ability to coach everything. The best managers surround themselves with quality coaches. And that's what Rodgers needs - he doesn't need people like Postman Pascoe or Mike Marsh.
nah jimmy... there's time to do all the training and there's philosophy... Rogers hasn't a goo and neither does amrtinez by the look of his record and putting a "defensive" coach in won't change that. Its not rugby nor american football. If rogers is encouraging players to run about heedlessly, as is his wont, and is dependant on pressing for 20mins a half he's his own worst enemy. Klopp knows what he wants, its not the other 3 that are defining the philosophy or repetition and movements. same for koeman. Koeman didn't instil a rigid system from nowhere. Its not cos he has a coach with him. Its him Same for van gall.. he is a rigid tactician. same for hodgson. he'd rather neve rhave a ball in trianing. very rigid tactical coach. Rogers doesn't train the players defensively, he doesn't do set piece either... never did with us so hiring someone else to do it would be pointless. when he's got everyone off doing whatever that person will be sat twiddling his thumbs.
Doesn't help that Celtic play about 4 semi competitive games a season in their league so when they come up against decent teams in the CL they haven't got that experience of how to play. Min their league they dominate the ball for 90 minutes so they get no real practice of how to play without it in a game scenario. They essentially go into the game with 0 experience as a team of how to play without the ball for long periods of the game so no surprise players switch off.
We'll agree to disagree. I remember when there was pressure on him to hire defensive coach, and then we had a few clean sheets and he was proper smug about it. Doesn't change the fact that we still conceded around 50 goals each season he was in charge for haha.
