Steve Brady was on with Burnsey this morning and the KC Stadium was mentioned as the council are setting up an arms length sport and leisure services company which will look after all of the cities sport and leisure facilities. Included in this company would be Springhead Golf Club and the Ennerdale, both of which were ear marked for closure.

Brady said he was going to re-open negotiations with the Allams on the stadium and potential development of the site. He seemed pretty clear that development was needed and that in time a deal could be struck.

He did however state that deals like that (good business deals) would be done behind closed doors and not through the media.

Will be interesting to see if anything progresses. A move to make sport and leisure arms length would hopefully see the back of Terry Geraghty and his vendetta against the Allams and Hull City as political interference should be minimal in a private company.

Brady was clear that these arms length companies would go quite a way in making the further £40m+ savings the council needed to make in the next 2 years or so. This is because staff would be transferred to private companies which could then make a profit/reinvest without the council creaming off the money etc.

A public/private company would need the KC as collateral or as salable asset to allow investment in other areas and I think Brady knows the city would be the poorer if Hull City did not play within its boundaries.

    Interesting times ahead!

No chance. You shall see Lionel Messi in a Hull City shirt before the Allams do any business with Cncllr.Brady and his cronies. That ship has sailed. More chance IF a change of council were to happen maybe ? imo.

In theory an arms length company is a good idea. In practice it will be staffed by and influenced still by the same muppets. The only way to start this from afresh is for people to not vote for these self serving idiots, but sadly I can't see that happening.

Corporation skint, having to close Ennerdale and Springhead Golf Course see a way out and appearing as socialist heroes in the eyes of the dimbo electorate?

Seems that Brady is offering an olive branch to the Allams and offering to reopen talks

For sure HCC cannot afford the KC. Could it be that Dr Allams stance and end game plans are slowly taking shape.

Note that Brady wants to bring it up again like ?..........

I hope Brady does enter negotiations modelled on other successful council/football partnerships like Manchester and Swansea.

Have we finally got rid of the ****wit Geraghty then or is he going to pop up in the HDM next week down Walton street proclaiming Hull Fair as the greatest show on earth?

There is such an opportunity to do the right thing and develop the whole site just like the Etihad Campus in Manchester (on a smaller scale). It would also make the most of the park. I'm sure the council could hand the site over to the Allams with certain conditions for development and future sale of site etc.

Brady seems a sincere guy from what I heard on the wireless, that is unless there is an election looming in Hull. Shame the rest of the council are not as proactive.

I think his comments are the first step in the council mending bridges realising if they are to make leisure facilities arms length the stadium is one hell of a drain on company resources without investment.

    Really ?

To me he sounds like the worst of unreconstructed old labour.

He used to be Prescott's agent, maybe that has summat to do with him being top dog over the likes of Inglis and Geraghty.

He usually comes across as abrasive, stubborn, charmless, simplistic, lacking intellect and learning, confrontational, bereft of creativity or useful experience, uncharismatic, lacking the sharp wits and vision essential in a senior role such as his, and a veteran of a thousand closures.
