Apparently signing him on loan as he's not favoured by Henning Berg.

David Wright, Liam Rosenior... that's right, in Paul Jewell's entire managerial reign we didn't have a right back in the team. It's taken McCarthy three games to suss the problem with that one...

At this rate we will have more loanees then contracted players so that bit does worry me. It sounds a good signing but I hope its a loan with a view to a long term contract just so we have a chance of building a settled squad going forward.

Confirmed now. This is exactly what loans are for: bringing in players to feature where you don't have your options. Quality right back <ok>

We now have a better right back and a better right winger than this time last week, top marks Mick <applause>

It would appear we have genuine options at the back now. I remember mentioning him in the summer as someone we should be looking at and it seems MM has the luxury of choice of who plays in our back 4 now. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hewitt or Ainsley out on loan.

Back four for Saturday:

Orr Chambo Higgs Youga

Think 3 of your 4 may be right King. Cant see us starting with Youga though.

I just get the impression that MM is looking at 'experience' at the back and will go for defensive solidity. Personally I'd keep Cresswell and I imagine MM will stick with him but I have a sneaking suspicion Youga may get the nod at some point in the coming weeks.
I can't Smith playing, which is a shame after he came in and performed well, but travelling back from China and getting back on Friday will certainly work against him with MM in charge and will miss out this week

King, Can see your point and agree on Smith but with Youga I think it may be a bit early to chuck him in.

on the face of it this seems like a very wise signing, an experienced right back is what i have wanted for ages. i have heard of him but don't know much about him, has anyone seen enough of him to know what sort of player he is?

"It’s a big club and it’s an honour to be here."

The players we have been getting in always seem to say that old 'ipswich is a great club' line, but I actually believe Orr when he says it. He has also said he would be very interested in this being a loan for a view to a permanent switch. I hope it works out for him here.

As for the next lineup, I agree Smith will probably be too tired and I don't think Youga will be played until we are out of the bottom 3 or it is a necessity, so Cressy will start with Youga on the bench.

Maybe he is going for experience, but if you look at Youga's career, he's only played around 100 league games, comared to 150 with Cresswell. I can only see him being cover and maybe another option if we need Cresswell to move forward.

Orr for me is a good signing, sounds very keen to stay here and I can't see him commanding a huge fee if he impresses.

I think Youga is here more to breathe down Cressys neck than to replace him. I think it's a move from Mick to make sure Aaron doesn't get too comfortable and that he ups the ante.
Bradley Orr is solid enough, good to have competition for places.

The real question is though hampy, will you be spending any of your hard earned dosh to attend games and support your club to sign loan players and help finance their debt?

I live in Bristol, with City being my local team, Ipswich my main side.

I have seen Orr many times at Ashton Gate, and he was fantastic! Very good signing, adds a lot of balance to the right side. Best RB we'll have had since Wilnis in his prime.

I met Bradley at a Yeovil away game, where he parked in the fans carpark. Walked with him and his HOT AS HELL mrs to the gate, where he walked in! Very nice guy. Wonder if they are still together, she'd have definitely got it!

As for Youga, he's played ONE league game in 2 years, so people who have put him in their lineup are completely misguided! It's gonna take him a good month to get fit, and sharp in reserve and other games. He came through 90 minutes today in the 5-1 win, which is fantastic. Happy for him! Apparently he was gash, but he clearly needs minutes/fitness under his belt so that's the main thing. As has been mentioned, he is here primarily to breathe down Cresswell's neck, and perhaps help him defensively.

How good would Cressy be LW ? Great left foot, can whip a good ball in. Obviously wouldn't be a defensive liability like he can be ( though he was magnificent away at Brum... ) Has he the pace / ability / trickery to make a good job of LW ? I think Martin / JET will be battling over that position...!

I like your summary Westy especially your bit about Orr and his Mrs, I bet she likes him to stick his Orr in... At last a proper Right Back and above all a quality player who has proved that with QPR. All this gash in the past about how players don't want to come to Ipswich because of where we are located. If you have the right manager with enormous respect in the game then quality players will want to come! So much positive news at the moment I am absolutely buzzing for Saturday!

I have to say everytime I've seen Bradley Orr, I haven't been overly impressed but I going by what I've read and heard he's a good player and I've probably just caught him on an off day!!

At last we can play a RB at RB, we've had too long either playing wingers or CB's at RB!!
