Young Dack has put pen to paper on a new 4 year deal. Good news. Might even start Friday if we're lucky http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/news/article/dack-signs-new-deal-apr-16-1491698.aspx
I could have sworn he only signed a new three year deal last year under Mad Dog? Oh well, higher transfer fee for when he goes I guess.
Excellent news. So that is both Dack and Hessy secured on four year contracts. Despite all my moaning, this is the aspect of PT do that I do like, he's thinking ahead to the future, whether that be retaining their services for Gillingham or for any future financial windfall that may bring into the Priestfield coffers. Obviously Taylor is in my bad books at the moment but when he does the right thing for the club, then i will step forward and say well done. Now he needs to look at the more difficult challenge of getting Stuart Nelson to put pen to paper. I'm not sure, please correct me if i'm wrong but I think his contract is up this season. At the age of 32 for a goalkeeper he has many years left in him yet. He's a goalkeeper that is passionate and always makes time to applaud the supporters. He has a safe pair of hands albeit lacking the same charisma of Gazza. If we don't sign him, then someone else will, possibly a Championship side, so get in there Mr Chairman and do whatever it takes to retain his services. He will also be a great influence for the up and coming youngters. BTW if you achieve him signing on the dotted line, please make him Captain next season.
Great news that we have offered Bradley Dack and Jake Hessenthaler four year contract extensions and we have tied down two very talented youngsters for the long term, if someone wants to take these two players off our hands then they are going to have to offer Gillingham a offer we cannot refuse to sell these two. There will be other young players at Gillingham who can use Jake Hessenthaler and Bradley Dack as inspiration for themselves, they will see that Dack and Jake are tied down for the long term at Gillingham and if they want a long term contract for themselves then we are willing to offer young players long term contracts if they have done enough to deserve one.
BRB I'm with you 100% on the Nelson captaincy, he is the very definition of a fans favourite and we need to sign him up now. Great news about Dack as well, now let's see him and jake starting every game.
Good news, in all honesty I can only see it being down to add 200k to his price tag at the end of next season when he goes for around 750k-1m after a good 40 odd games next year, good to see the groundwork being laid but Nelson needs to sign! To be honest after Nelson signs I wouldn't be distraught if no one else signs at all! (I like bayo but maybe he will be out the door)
Excellent news for all the reasons stated above, but also credit to Dack for being prepared to sign a new contract instead of walking out for a fat signing on fee when(ever) his previous contract was up. Going on Friday (first, and only, trip to Priestfield this season), so really hope to see him start.
Good news indeed, this is a nicer approach in comparison to interesting players like Pugh and Collin being released without exposure to the first team. Hopefully PT's lack of willingness to play both Dack and Hess regularly is down to the ongoing contract talks between them both and they can now become slightly more permanent fixtures in the starting XI.
Lukey you've touched on it and im in agreement, I want Bayo to stay but given his tweet after Saturday and various other rumours I just can't see it happen. I actually now want Legge to stay, we've conceded 10 goals in the last 3 games without him and i believe if we get a solid and controlling centre half next to him who can actually run, then he will be a good fixture for us. Also we need some continuity. However for me, Barrett, Weston, Gregory, Whelps and Lee can all go, although the latter 2 are a real shame.
Its effectively only a three year extension, not a new four year deal guys. Just as I suspected he signed a new three year deal last year which would have taken him upto Summer 2015 anyway. Just means that he's going to be on much higher wages than what Mad Dog offered and that we should hopefully get a nice hefty sum for him. Good news though but he needs to played in his actual position as opposed to being stuck on the wing all of the time. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11737/8054402/Youngsters-handed-new-contracts
I would always keep Lee, every club needs a fighter in their team and Charlie is the ideal pitbull for me, also his discipline has improved. If Lee had been down the right side against Orient instead of being stuck at CB due to Davies being out on loan, then there is no way the opposition would have got past him alive or at the very least in one piece. The trouble is at CB in the penalty area you can't touch 'em. Names for me are Nelson, Lee, Dack, Hessy, Davies not fussed after that.
Whelps on fire is a must have. ' Re light the fire………' ……….please.
