CURTIS Davies has emerged as a surprise target for Premier League new boys Bournemouth in a bid to boost their defensive options. Currently sidelined with a calf injury, the 30-year-old had become a rock of the Tigers' back-line alongside Michael Dawson before his recent set-back. Talk of an exit for Davies isn't new, with the player himself admitting he had been preparing himself for a Hull City departure in the summer, following the club's relegation from the top flight. However, according to bookmakers Ladbrokes, the Cherries are a new name now in the frame, as Eddie Howe's outfit sit 18th in the Premier League despite an initial bright start to life in the upper echelons of the Football League. With his contract due to expire next summer, questions will continue about Davies' future at the KC Stadium. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...tory-28189833-detail/story.html#ixzz3rkOcpBFX
Don't blame them, good CB, certainly PL standard and will have 6 months left on his contract. Would need to be a good offer to convince us to let him go though, would imagine at least £2m as (to me) at least it'd make more sense to lose him on a free and him help us get promoted then to sell him for <£2m and weaken our promotion attempt
Him and daws are the best pairing in the championship Any injuries after January and with him gone, could be A big problem....keep him till summer to give Us the best chance of promotion Also.. If we do go up and I know we will Next season it could be... Messi..at a ground near you!!! Now wouldn't that be bloody marvellous And yes I know it's probabily not going to happen. But We can live and dream... Messi.. In hull... Ha ha ha
If anybody offers £2.5m plus in Jan for Curtis, then certainly it will flush out whether he has a future with us or not. If its Bournemouth then feel we have as much chance of being in the PL as them next season, so it will come down to Curtis himself unless we put an offer on the table, but honestly don't see that happening in Jan. Also at some point Brucey will put his faith in a Daws/Harry pairing I suspect
It would be if you go to see the opposition, me I go only to see City beat the opposition and really couldn't give a **** who's playing for the them.
Point taken.. But to have arguably the best player in the world In front of you, playing on our grass.. Would be a great Day out... And a city win would cap off the day...
Is that just in the Premier League or for all games? I enjoy watching other players, if only to see if they're as good as people think they are.
If he hasn't got a release clause we should hang on to him. Even letting him go for free will be worth it if he contributes to promotion.
It's in all games, I don't give a **** what league we're in, or who's playing for our opponents, it could be The Champions League I still only go to see City outsmart/outplay the opposition, when they don't I'm as depressed as **** for a couple of days. But that's just me, I bleed black and amber, other colours don't exist for me.
One swallow doesn't make a summer and all that but my gut feel is Harry is looking stronger each game (he will cock-up at some point but his development curve is good) so with a few more real-time tutorials from Dawson this could well mean we can afford to take the money and bid Curtis a sincere, fond farewell. Then either promote/bring in another prospect to develop or get a more experienced player alongside Jnr as back up.
Yes Harry is doing well and deserves his spot..but It's a long way till the end of the season and an Awful lot more games, injuries, suspensions, loss Of form etc and if Curtis has gone for say 2 million It leaves us with 3 recognised centre backs. Bruce Junior is prone to injuries so that would leave just two, Until may..what if daws got injured ? With nearly 2 games a week, that's a lot of football. And yes we could get someone in January but would he hit the Ground running, and for 2 million who would we get ? And let's not forget, Curtis has been playing well.... Keep Curtis till may, get promoted.. Jobs a good un....
I'm pretty much the same, that's why it gets annoying reading irrelevant crap about Leicester on here from time to time
All depends on what Bournemouth offer the club and him. 3 years on decent wages with no relegation clause and he'll probably take it.
We should keep him. If - and thats IF - we get promted, then he and Daws are a good enough centre back pairing to start next season. If we lose Davies, we have to buy somebody else and we wont get somebody good enough for less than £5m. So why sell? Offer him 2 years on the same money as Daws and he'll snap our hands off and we're sorted. Everyone's a winner.
