A fan in the North Upper on Sunday threw an empty beer bottle 'down below', narrowly missing a 12 year old girl. The stupidity of this behaviour speaks for itself & the Club have put a photo of the culprit on the website. End of story? Nope, not at Charlton. Just another glorious excuse for the Usual Suspects with names like Ben and Rick to barge their way to the front of the queue marked "Syntheitic Anger and Fake Indignation" ,and demand the culprit meet all manner of grisly fates including incarceration in Guantanamo Bay or worse still, a night with Richard Murray at Bromley Addicks. These "fans" are like a barnacle on the whale's arse that is Charlton. Please guys. It's not the 80s any more. You had your turn in the spotlight from then right up to Murray's departure. You got rich, took the Club backwards, and relished the perks whilst doing so, A period of silence - around the next 30 years - would be most welcome
Can anyone recommend a good psychologist? I live a promiscuous life and I think it's taking a toll on my morality.
China... I thought you spent evenings with a vudu doll of your former girlfriend and some rather large pins? Then a happy half hour with Mrs Palm and her five lovely daughters
I did get brought a voodoo doll, but never used it, as it was quite a cool artistic peice. I did decide to leave the setup as "good fortune." Not that I believe in that crap.
I must admit that I am a firm believer in ...... 1) You are born.. 2) You live ... 3 You die... That's about a far as I can see it but.... hey... whatever rocks peoples boats..
Ignoring the busy bodies - I personally hope the **** gets caught. I saw this story originate on Facebook and the subsequent posts. It's probably best the find the culprit for his safety ahead of anything else.
Bottle throwing used to happen sporadically in Scottish games. I remember one New Year game at Love Street (St Mirren, as Ponders knows), when there was a hail of bottles between St Mirren and Kilmarnock fans. Incredibly no-one was hurt. Old Firm fans used to take cans of beer into the ground for a different reason- you'd drink the contents then pee into the can and pour it down the terraces. After Rangers or Celtic had played at Rugby Park you could see the mountain stream cascading down the terraces. Celtic fans were a friendly crowd, and we used to mix with them, but I wore shoes with holes in the soles to one game, and had to change my socks as soon as I got home.
Did you see my post on the other thread, FHB? - the one in which I explain my love for the Mighty Mirren. I also express my surprise at Kilmarnock's shockingly low attendances - 3.5k for the last home match! Nice story, by the way.
Someone has contacted me on Twitter @HenryIrving10 (300 followers ) to say that the bottle thrower was a Millwall fan.
This sort of hooliganism was fairly common place, even at Charlton , in the late 70s and 80s. I have been on many lively away trips. The worst I ever personally experienced was attending a Kettering v Gillingham FA Cup tie with a pal in the 80s. Every bother boy in Kettering turned out that day, and I ended up with one of them standing on the roof of my car stamping on it.
The question that is (and rightly so) being asked is: what were the stewards doing? Quick to tell people to sit down, do nothing to stop the real troublemakers
The question that is also rightly being asked is why does Charlton have this hard core of busy body 'we own the Club' try hard fans ? A fan farts in the East Stand - Hayes & Everitt put down an emergency motion at Bromley Addicks.
I happen to follow you on Twitter. Also, question what a Millwall fan was doing there, if not only to cause trouble? The stewards don't do much. There's this obnoxious man sitting behind me (and the ST holders which have been there for years), who's always using the C-WORD, and rather abusive language. Whilst I do agree that sometimes tempers can get flared, and tolerate some foul language (I've let off an f-bomb a couple of times), what they do is unnecessarily excessive. There's children that is around there, some of which will be impressionable. I've spoken to the stewards about my concerns, but they're always looking the other way. I'm thinking of either writing to the club, or politely asking him to exercise restraint, but last game he was going on about some woman wearing perfume. To which he's never heard of "Chanel No 5." Not surprising, given the lack of class he exhibits. Anyway, I realised I'm ranting!
The rumour is he has handed himself in after potos began to do the rounds on the social media. I hope he gets a ban, we need this sort of fan the way we need a new hungarian defender. Sorry to be preachy about it, but there is only one wrong doer here. There was an outcry on CL. Would you prefer they kept schtumm and the guy got away with it, and repeated it later?
I would prefer it if Ben Hayes aka the Vicar of Bray & his combover acolytes did not jump on any minor incident to remind everyone they are still around Such matters should be left to the Club and the police, not self appointed busy bodies.
