Not one to get my pulse racing to be honest but if he is then so be it. He will get the support he deserves and good luck to him.

Rarely seen the lad play so cannot realy give an opinion, would rather us even go for someone like Heskey as a squad striker he must have something he has been in the premiership for years

Not a daft call, Poolie. Someone to hold the ball up and put it into the right space for Gyan. Dunno what Bothroyd would bring to be fair. Haven't seen much of him.

Heard in the past he's had a bad attitude? Always a player with potential but has never lived up to it. Not a bad squad player for us.

Heskey wouldn't be so bad I dont think anyways mate, he is 33 so would be available for not much I would imagine and would be a good squad striker chipping in with 5 or 6goals a season, still has a couple of season's in him and has worked with Brucie in the past.

People including me wrote off Bramble before he signed, we could do alot worse than having Heskey as the 3rd/4th choice striker

I wouldn't have Heskey as 4th choice programme seller mate, he is well past it and after watching his last game when he went doolally tap at the ref is beginning to realise it himself. Won't take us any further on and would be a step backwards.

Bothroyd has a very uninspiring record in the top flight. 17 goals in three seasons at Coventry and two unsuccessful loan spells at Blackburn and Stoke. Between those two he didn't do anything at Wolves and lost his place when they took Kevin Kyle on loan. Make what you want of that. He's 28 and has had three good seasons in the Championship. So did Michael Chopra. If this is the sort of player that we are going to rely on then God help us!

    <laugh><laugh><laugh> programme seller! <laugh><laugh><laugh>

    BTW, I agree <ok>

As regards Bothroyd, I can't give an honest opinion because I've not seen enough of him, so I'll body swerve this one.

I would hate Heskey, not sure about Bothroyd, he is not a prolific goalscorer mind...we would still need the Bent replacement a 20 goal a season man!

Would prefer DJ campbell, not one to get the pulse racing admittedly, but better than Heskey or Bothroyd imo. 13 goals for a relegated team isnt bad.

I like both. Pav had a great game yesterday and is a big lad too. Having DJ Campbell in our squad means he can't score against us, like he normally does ;)

Campbell would be a decent buy,so would Pav. and as for Heskey......well,all I can say,is that if we sign him,the men in white coats will be coming for Bruce!!!He couldn't even sell pies, let alone progammes.

Having him in the Championship does that, too.

We do need additional strikers and there is no way they will all be £20 million pound men so a freebie like Bothroyd could be helpful in the squad.

Campbell would be a decent addition as a squad player and Pav could be the big striker that we desperately need. I think we'll struggle to find a striker who can knock in 20+ goals a season very difficult to persuade to come North. Twelve to 15 goals a season from the likes of Campbell, Pav and possibly Bothroyd added to Gyan's contribution of 20 or so and a few from Sess would be a move forward. What we do need is regular goals from the combined midfield, lets say 6 or 7 each which would add up to 60/70 in the goals for column.

Bothroyd is 29 and never done anything in the premier league to suggest he can cut it there. If he was that good surely he would have made the step up earlier than this? Perhaps he could be a decent squad player, but I wouldn't be banking on him in the first team. A little uninspiring for me.
