So much so that I have resorted to looking at the race for the prem title - COME ON YOU BLUES! Right, I'll go wash out my mouth with soap and water <whistle>

Ah well next weekend the French Open starts, pity I have my bud from Virginia (who hates sport) visiting for a week, still there's always the semi finals and final to look forward to, I guess by then Andy Murray will be out of it <laugh>

I see that James Brent is saying his aim is to chase for promotion next season but within financial restaints. Realistic? What are your thoughts? Personally I think this is a good target to aim for, there is no reason why we shouldn't make the play offs with a reasonable budget.

OK, back to the point of the thread, what's keeping you sane (and I use that term loosely) now that the season is over for the greens?

Only the playing season Mrs LaLa........what happens in the next three months will flavour what happens in the 2012/13 season.

Of last seasons loans I would only be interested in seeing MacDonald and Hemmings return......bought or a further loan period (longer than shorter) if possible.

With Larrieu retiring a goalkeeper should be on the agenda,.....possibly better than Cole......he started shakily but did improve eventually....but does not come for crosses and therefore doesn't breed confidence in his defenders......yet we now have a sound defence......high praise due to Purse and Blanchards abilities. Too soon for Chenoweth personally.

The midfield....a problem area.......Luke Young should be in the middle, very promising for the future........Wotton should have a season left in him.....more defensive........Attacking mid-field.....this is an area where we need to fill this summer.......Walton has a new contract, possibly tied up with what happened last year (an Agreement ?)....but I don't think he is necessary for the team.

Forwards.......problem area...Chadwick started well.....then injured, and now the player we can remember from first time around......Feeney tries hard but has no goal scoring punch....MacDonald a year older could fit the bill......but has he got higher aspirations than Div 2.

We've been told that Fletcher did the task required of him this season......and he his naturally an attractive footballer (West Ham,Bournemouth) and it will be different this season for him.........we will get an inkling by who comes in this closed season........there will be lots of players looking for a new club this summer.....can Fletcher attract the right ones to PAFC.

Of course we are assuming that he will get a new contract, the signs are that he is wanted by Brent........the Bournemouth vacancy has been filled by the stand in manager (who didn't do that well actually) so that will not be on his agenda anymore and he will possibly now agree a new contract.......my question is can he do promotion and not relegation fighting.

Yes Plym, there is the pre-season to consider but I find all the rumour somewhat boring and repetative, I have read and re-read all the player "needs" for the new season, hell I've even composed my own post on this subject, now we will be inundated with rumour, we'll be lucky to achieve 10% of what we wish for and we have 3-4 months of this talk to be going on with Y A W N!

I agree with you about the boring bit. It is a long closed season for me and there will be a thousand and one rumours none of which will probably happen. We have as you say done to death the "what would we like" thing so might as well hybernate until August now. No decent sport on in the summer months for me.

I was painting a roof this afternoon but did have the radio on and was listening to the Man C v QPR game. Having been mightily depressed for half an hour whilst QPR did the unthinkable by drawing level and then taking the lead I was thinking of jumping off. Explanation being that my next door neighbour, who never speaks and is a miserable bleeder along with his sour faced partner, is a Man U fan. He sat on his doorstep for most of the match not being able to watch his sky game. When QPR scored their second he jumped to his feet and stalked up and down the path shouting "Come on" "Get in there" and other such football outpourings. Armchair plastic janner fan that he is. Then out of the blue so to speak, just when it was looking unlikely, Man C scored with a couple of minutes left. Damn I thought too bloody late. Then they did it again and the noise from the crowd on the radio went into balistic volume. You just couldn't write the script could you. My neighbour sat with head in hands on his doorstep for 20 minutes after the final whistle. I turned the radio up so he could hear them get their trophy. I was just being neighbourly. I then nearly fell off the roof I was previously going to jump off in my absolute delight. I normally hate the premiership but just for today it was not only the sky that was blue it included the air next door. Classic.

No doubt as time moves on during the summer there will be things Argyle to discuss and air views on so it isn't all gloom and despondency.

You are right sensible, it was pure classic. I was watching SSN and it was gripping, couldn't believe city got that 2nd goal with seconds to spare. The SSN panel went ballistic but I was sitting quietly with a smug look on my face and Beau was laughing <laugh>

There were 3 things going on in the prem today. The top spot being decided, who would finish 3rd out of Spurs and Arsenal and who would fill the last drop spot. The results changed over and over again before the final outcome and it was facinating to listen to from an observers point of view. The emotions at those games must have been up and down like a yoyo. I would love to have been a fly on the Man U dressingroom wall after their match. Would love to have been a Sunderland supporter for a day as well because they would have been ecstatic no doubt and I hope they took the opportunity to chant away at Man U along with everyone they met on the way home.

I can't agree with you sensible about there being no decent sport on during the summer months.

We are hosting the greatest sporting event on the planet.....the Olympics......every sport imaginable.

European football as well, there will be some good football played......not that I expect England will be playing any of it.

Finally there will be Mrs LaLa's other love.......umm oh yea....Tennis.......with that Andy Scott fella.....failing again miserably I expect.

So broaden your horizons sensible.....there is more than enough sport to please everyone........and come back to Argyle refreshed.

Firstly yes you are right AWAYINBC. Torquay need to overcome a 2 goal deficite just to get to the playoff final and it isn't looking great for them. Despite the local derbies I still hope they do it though. Hope you haven't fallen off your roof whilst in voice.

Can't agree there is great sport coming up plym. I used to love the Olympics and have been known to stay up very late to watch events. But, it is full of drug taking professionals these days and it has lost it's appeal for me. They are more like professional footballers these days than amateur participants. As for Euro 2012 well where do I start. Load of vastly overpaid millionaires going through the motions. I can't get excited about England anymore in football terms. I watch it but am not that bothered if I don't. Tennis? Enough said. British players are just like Argyle. Have potential but never realise it by winning anything of note. I shall just have to hybernate until the new season I think or go on lots of holidays. The second one has more appeal than the first.
