Annoying though it is to admit it, the Americanised 'J-Rod' is a lot better than saying Rodriguez. I don't know why, it just is. Which brings me on to ask, which other players can we do this sort of thing to...

    Here's some of our lot...

    K-Dav
    D-Buttz
    J-Hooz
    J-Fonz
    D-Fox
    G-Do
    M-Schnei
    D-Ham
    R-Chapz
    R-Lam
    B-Shaz
    A-Lal

On second thoughts, they're all bollocks. Shame.

Anyway, have a good weekend everyone,

    B-Bla

R-chapz is the best of a bad bunch there.

In fact, Chaplow's Twitter account is @rchap04 so R-Chap is used!

He doeas get called Butts sometimes because it's shorter and easier to type. Jay Rod is a pretty good moniker and makes him sound like a porn star.

I think Ricky calls Lallana "A-Lal" anyway... or does he just say that to everyone in his Scouse drole?

J Rod is ok because it sounds like A Rod, who is a baseball player. He also gets paid twice as much as the top paid footballers. All for a bit of rounders.

A-Rod is also Andy Roddick the tennis player, who probably also earns quite a bit.

Maybe I should change mine to D-Fratt.

    Then again maybe not!

A-Rod sounds like specialist drains contractor to me. Don't like these at all, but then I am a middle-aged curmudgeon.

Nicknames have to be easier to say than the original name. J-Rod has advantage that is easier than Rodriguez, distinguishes him from other players of the same name, and sounds cool. But will only be used by fans. Most footballers just add an 's' or 'ers' to someones name as it has to be shouted across a noisy stadium...hence Ads for Lallana, Chapps for Chaplow. If he joins, I'm sure Rodriguez will be called Jay by the players as it is simple anyway.

A-Rod or J-Rod, I prefer Rodriquez. Just call him by his surname. We don't call the Chancellor of the Exchequer G-Ossie, do we..? Come to think of it, I don't call him anything apart from That Serial Tax Dodger or Bloody Idiot.

    EDIT: How about Dyno-Rod..?
