    Jody Craddock: Wolves defender retires

Wolves centre-back Jody Craddock has retired from playing, ending his 10-year spell at Molineux.
The 37-year-old joined Wolves from Sunderland in 2003, and played 237 times for the recently relegated side.
However, having not made a first-team appearance since December 2011, the club's longest serving player has decided to retire from playing.
    Jody Craddock factfile
Born 25 July 1975 in Redditch
Joined Cambridge from non-league Christchurch in 1993, making 145 league appearances
Moved to Sunderland in 1997, spending six seasons there, winning promotion to the Premier League in 1999
Newly-promoted Wolves signed the defender for the 2003-04 Premier League season, and he went on to make 215 league appearances for the club
Last summer he took on an ambassadorial role at the club and helped with the coaching at the club's academy
In total, the Redditch-born defender made 581 senior appearances in a career spanning 20 years.
As he is in his 10th year at Molineux, Craddock has been given a testimonial by the club, for which a proportion of the proceeds will go to the Birmingham Children's Hospital and Balls to Cancer charities.
"I am really pleased the club have requested a testimonial for me and delighted it has now been granted," Craddock told the club website.
"I always loved playing for Wolves, and gave it my all, and am looking forward to sharing this year with the club's supporters."
Craddock turned out for Cambridge United and Sunderland before he was signed by then-Wolves boss Dave Jones in 2003 for £1.75m following the club's promotion to the Premier League.
Despite their relegation from the top flight that season, Craddock stayed with Wolves, and helped them bounce back into the Premier League in 2009.
But having been recently hampered by a hamstring injury, he believes the time is right to call time on his career.

Yeah he was one of our Peter Reid generation, always liked him. A good ball playing defender and not many teams got past Craddock and Butler.

Agree, the lad has a natural ability and style, it goes old masters at times but then goes back to his own unique talent..

Stuff the testimonial games, they 'earn' enough money now. It was a bit different when there was a maximum wage or some kid had a promising career cut short by injury.
