under 21s played tonight we beat millwall 5-3. Bobby Reid scored 2 and set up another, he has been immense for the under 21s this season and surely must have a appearance in the first team this side of Christmas, Exactly what we're looking for. at 19 he isnt too young to be in and around the team now, bryan is the same age as ws caulker when we had him and both have done brilliantly, so i say give him a chance del boy
Not sure he's what we're looking for, as he's small and lightweight we need battlers in our team who stand no **** from nobody.. But it does seem he has been around for an eternity, but i'm sure he's better than pearson
I can remember when Alan Ball was chosen for our world cup squad of 1966 to play in the midfield,he was 5ft-6" tall and we won the world cup,he was one of our best players,he went on to win 72 caps for England and scored 8 goals.. If you are good enough, you are big enough, play Bobby Reid....
Gerry Gow, Bobby Kellard, John Quigley and going right back to my start with City, Tommy Burden; none of these were over endowed in the height measurement dept. BUT oh boy how we could do with another like any of them. I say if he's doing so well in our reserves, then he deserves a chance. But I can understand if DMc wants a few more points on the board to ease the pressure on such youngsters if he promotes them to the starting line up.
The current best player in the world is 5ft 7, I wouldn't start Reid but if were winningat home with 10 minutes to go bring him on and gradually get him more and more involved, although I would bulk him up a bit
Good point Shiny about using the youngsters as late subs, but all our 18 and 19 year Academy boys will "bulk out" naturally over the next couple of years. Gerry Gow was so thin when he made his debut and look how he turned out. We should not be afraid of putting the young men into our team.
I'm sure he would love to be able to put him in and I would love to see him.. However should we lose.. Mckinnes gets slated for playing small young kids and some suggest he should leave, some of our fans consider marching on Ashton gate with lit torches and Reid gets villified as "will never be good enough for us" after only one game... Apart from that yea, get him in.. My honest opinion is he looks tidy so give him a go.
He's not a cb or defensive midfielder so who cares if he's a bit small? If we had to grind out results then maybe. But for now lets play our best 11 that are fit and hungry to win - personally reckon that could include Reid.
Im not suggesting start him, like I said bring him on in a winning side, that way when we go on to win the game he will gain confidence and experience, the lads got talent just needs the right guidance which im sure McInnes will provide him
