or maybe Duncan Edwards reborn, but whoever , Stoke should dig deep and pay whatever the cost to buy William Hughes. He is so mature so football wise , always makes himself available to receive a pass and is so adroit at laying the ball off , even in the tightest of situations. For those of you who did not see the game , he also scored England's second goal , which meant Croatia had to score three in the last seventeen minutes to put us out of the competition. A tall order , because we were playing well. It finished 4-2 to us on aggregate , so we progress to the European finals. I found this much more watchable than watching the senior team. Butland was captain and he made a crucial , brilliant save in only the second minute at 0-0. However , in my opinion , he was to blame for their equaliser , coming off his line when he might have had an easier stop to make from nearer his goal line. It is easy for me to say I know. He is captain of the U-21's and is a good leader. But he does need to improve the quality of his short passes , which too often are intercepted by the opposition , putting us in immediate danger. But he is still gaining experience , and I think in the future he will be one of the best 'keepers around. Finally , the only replacement England need to find is for Harry Kane , who did not play well in this match. Every other man played well.
Only one Bobby Moore KKB. The ONLY other defensive midfielder of simular stature was Beckenbuer. Duncan Edwards...I will accept Bobby Charlton's assessment - "he made me feel look and be inadequate" The lad is good...but not that good In my opinion of course.
