    Taken from the post.

Dunford, who has had a 30-year association with Rovers after his father Denis saved the club by moving it from Eastville to Twerton Park in the 1980s, yesterday insisted he intends to continue on the board amid rumours suggesting he was considering his position.

"There is a board meeting on Tuesday to discuss a number of issues following the events of Saturday. We need to formulate a clear plan moving forward. It is our first opportunity to get together and work through things and it is an important meeting because we need to hit the ground running. Whether it is the current directors or other directors that take this club forward in the future remains to be seen. Nick (Higgs) is the chairman, the majority shareholder and puts most of the money in, so those are questions only he can answer. The important thing is the football club survives this. Relegation is something we were aware of, but on Saturday we were looking at things in a positive way in that the team were going to perform and that getting a draw against Mansfield wasn't asking too much of them. The feeling has got worse for me with each day since. Every day I wake up the feeling is worse than the day before. It is horrific. It has probably hit me harder than anyone because I arrived at this club with my father in 1985 and it was a case of bringing it back from the dead. This is probably an even worse scenario, but we have to look at the positives. The Memorial Stadium site has planning permission for a new supermarket and we also have planning permission for a new stadium on the site at UWE. The club is not as poor as it was in 1985 in that respect and while relegation to the Conference is absolutely devastating, the team has to get back very quickly because the future of the football club is very bright on that basis. This is a terrible thing to happen, but it isn't something that can't be corrected."
