Just seen the prices for the man utd game. 40 quid for the cheapest adult ticket. 18 pound for a child. glad we can see it live on sky because 76 pounds for me the favoutrite son and the glory hunter before the programme lemonades and burgers seems to me a bit steep. northolt please feel free to change the title
The working man's game? Ok if you're a banker, lawyer or other £100k+ a year type but the REAL working man is being priced out... Maybe it's time to go local, Dulwich Hamlet charge £6, and you can have a pint with the players afterwards...
Funny you use Dulwich Hamlet as an example 'cos if i'm right they play at Edgar Kail Way. His was a great story of real working mans values and loyalty to your club.
I think the prices reflect the fact that man utd fans won't have to travel to far from their London / home counties abodes and that it is just the loyal QPR fan who gets screwed
think how bad it would have been under tango and cash... no doubt they'd have initiated another price hike as soon as a game of this magnitude came along.
Supply and demand I'm afraid. If we're to get to anything like a sustainable business then we have to maximise revenue in games like this given our capacity. The ground will be full, c'est la vie. As a side note, quite why anyone would buy a programme nowadays is beyond me. They're ****e, particular compared to the excellent fanzine.
You're right there Staines, Kail was a fantastic player who stayed as an amateur in the true sense of the word and won three full England caps. In the 20s their local derbies against West Norwood and Nunhead had 20,000+ crowds in the Isthmian League and Kail was the big star of the time. I've watched them on and off for nearly 20 years and remember a youth loanee we nicknamed 'Lurch', it was Crouchie who looked like one of those foals that are about 2 days old, all legs and wobbly. They've currently got a centre back that is being tracked by all the big Premier clubs who are hoping to find another Chris Smalling, watch out for Michael Chambers, you heard it here first and hopefully Warnock will be interested as well...
