Here we go again. Another in a long, compelling series of cup finals at top and bottom of the prem this year. I'm sure we'll all be watching with great interest, even if it doesn't appear to affect us in quite the same way as other games have and no doubt will next week. BUT whilst many will be confidently predicting a win and safety for Wigan, especially with their recent successes with that radical 343 system of their's, I wonder. Supposing Blackburn end up winning... ? That would put a different spin on things in them final games next week! Blackburn would have to climb a mountain at Chelsea similar to what we have to do in Manchester - and Wigan could find Wolves harder to overcome than expected. If they fail, survival could go down to goal difference putting even more pressure on Bolton! Again, lots of ifs and coulds. The only thing that's certain, is that there'll be no certainties until the last of the final whistles sound!
Can't see Blackburn doing anything on Sunday, likewise Wolves are sh*te so Wigan will win....so tonight is largely irrelevant.
A Blackburn win could theoretically lead to them, Wigan and us all finishing on 37 points. Keep it simple - a win for Wigan!...
I dont know why some are so sure Wigan will win!. If Rovers win then we have two teams that could relegate us. Chelsea will play rovers with a second string, with a champions league final 6 days later. Heroics on sunday, but its 50/50.
Agreed. What's more, a Spurs acquaintance of mine bet me a tidy sum that the Rs would finish up in the bottom 2, so would be nice to take his money.
No, no, no. The more teams with a chance of going down on the last day, the better. It would be great if Blackburn could win by a one tonight, then they'd have to beat Chelsea by a few to overcome us (unless we get smashed by City) and that's not going to happen. That would leave Wigan needing a point against Wolves and nerves can do very funny things to teams.
It could get more interesting. There is a possibility, albeit remote, that we could end up in a play-off with Wigan.
Wolves seem to be playing better of late. Often happens when relegation is confirmed early. Pressure's off and anything can and often does happen. Fact is Wolves are a better side than their position suggests. Remember how they dominated so tidily against us after Cisse went? Could catch Wigan out...
Earlier I wanted a BB win so Wigan were still in the mix. Ext weekend but now I'm not so sure Guess I picked a bad day to give up drinking
I have put this on other threads, but I am definitely a Wigan fan tonight. A Blackburn win tonight could relegate us! If they beat Wigan, they need only beat a chelsea team who may use a reserve team and take in our 6 goal goal difference in their 2 games and ours at City - three unexceptional 2-0 results will be enough for them to relegate us. Come on Wigan!
I can see Blackburn winning this, still not convinced if that is a good thing. Not sure I want to worry about two other teams below us on Saturday.
I've changed my mind six times and will continue to the more I think about so it's easier to say what I don't want. Quite simply Blackburn winning by more than 1 goal and it's been a bad night otherwise I can just about live with it!!
I want a blackburn win, then anything can happen in Wigans final game, they might get a goalie sent off and a pen against them in the 1st minute leading to us staying up no matter what bolton do. So an 9-0 win for blackburn would do me.
Was just thinking about keepers too. Is Robinson past it? If Blackburn go down could go for him ?? Although with Hughes scouting network he could already have one identified from Abroad?
Back to the game. Blackburn sitting deep and inviting a lot of pressure. Matter of when Wigan score not if can see this being a score draw or Wigan nicking it by a goal
Robinson is the only keeper in the PL with a worse save % than Kenny. Hes too old as well. Im sure we will have 2 or maybe 3 new keepers next season.
