I have to say I don't get why anyone objects to that slave trader statue being removed.. if removing a few statues is going to resolve they way they feel then so be it..

Rip up the entire history of this country and move forward as one...

If we erase our history then we have no marker for what bad looks like.
If public opinion in a particular city was against a statue then it should be taken down democratically through lobbying and council voting.
To do things the mob rule way would mean that a bunch of mackems who are pissed off at the Shearer statue could justify ripping that down... or going to London to rip down the Jimmy Hill statue (instead of shouting at it).

Ripping down a few lumps if metal won't change the history books.. I don't like statues anyway .. horrible looking things..

the reality is we've got to give them everything they want .. they obvs have problems.

 

What ****s me off about all of this is that these statues etc have been there for years and they're suddenly offensive now? **** off man. Now all these big TV/Streaming companies jumping on board and pulling programmes left right and centre....nothing is allowed to be funny anymore and everything that used to be funny we have to apologise for....seriously what the actual ****?

Someone better dig up Warren Mitchell and get that **** to posthumously apologise for each and every single episode of In Sickness and In Health.....that **** was raw !!

Future re-runs of the Dukes of Hazzard will no doubt see the confederate flag removed from the roof of the General Lee.....oh and whilst they're on they'd better rename the ****ing car at the same time !!

Every country in the world has a history, every country in the world has done bad things at some point in time...why can't people just accept that? What was funny and permissable 30, 40, 50 years ago may not be so nowadays and we've adjusted to that. Surely by trying to erase/rewrite things it is doing the complete opposite by removing the very proof that it happened in the first place and we fought through it and won. Maybe they'll remove History from the curriculum in the future cos it will all be ****ing pointless because it will have never existed or it'll just be removed/ignored when the next bunch of ****ing snowflakes pipe up !!

These ****s have clearly never seen Back to the Future....you don't mess with the space time continuum!

it's frightening tbh .. one complaint at work for something you've inadvertently said that's been sighted as racist and you lose your job , your livelihood and your reputation as a human being. It can be weaponised by bad people is a concern I have. I'm not racist , but if I offer someone a cup of earl grey I might lose everything.

The whole situation is awful and I hope one day everyone gets over all this and moves forward as one , but in all honesty I don't think that will ever happen..the asteroid will land sooner

 

Was having a chat with the new lass at work today about slavery and black lives matter. She was getting very intense, talking about women's rights and ****e. Just as she was getting into full flow talking about how slavery ended hundreds of years ago jokingly I said "isn't it about time they got over it?" she'd teed it up so beautifully I couldn't resist. I ended up getting accused of committing casual racism, whatever that is. She's fat, ugly, opinionated, in her forties and single, not that that has anything to do with it

 

this is exactly what I meant in my last post .. it can be used as a weapon by nasty people to destroy lives and take food out of children's mouths..

ok sometimes its perhaps real, but I worry how many people's lives are destroyed for no reason

 

From what I've read they also want Churchill, Cromwell and Nelson removed.

I'm surprised the feminists haven't piped up yet and asked for Henry VIII to be removed from the history books.
