She's a very good horse. She responded very quickly when asked to go again and was let down by her jockey.

She's no Frankel though

 

She should have destroyed that field. They're all rubbish apart from Moonlight Cloud and she's not a sprinter.

How on Earth could anyone say she's up there with Frankel? Laughable.

 

You're assuming that her run today was her best of her career.

 

No I'm not. I'm assuming she was wound up for probably the most important race of her career.

 

Just been confirmed, she goes into quarantine tonight.

 

Starspangledbanner was more impressive. It's no loss to UK racing.

 

It would be very harsh to say that Black Caviar is over-rated.

As I understand it most courses in Australia are flat, so she was encountering an uphill sprint for the first time and the jockey confessed that he had made an error of judgement – but she still won.

We have forgiven Tom Queally for Frankel’s lacklustre victory in last year’s St James’s Palace Stakes, so I think we should give Luke Nolan some latitude on his first (and possibly last) ride at the track.

 

Defo no "champion the wonder horse". All you can say is she won..................just

 

Very harsh to dismiss the mare after one disappointing run, thousands of miles from home, on ground she'd never encountered before. She's still undefeated, and that was a Group 1, which she'd have won by at least a length if her Jockey hadn't gone to sleep.

 

Apparently there is talk that the Diamond Jubilee may have been her last race and she may be retired when she goes back home

 

In a post-race press conference, the trainer has done an O’Brien and made ‘all not well’ excuses and, according to the BBC, she may be retired upon her return Down Under.

 

She's obviously a prolific horse but Society Rock, without losing 6 lengths at the start, could have beaten her today. That sums up how unimpressive that was compared to the reputation she's got in Australia.

 

No doubt she is a group 1 sprinter but she is no Dayjur. She would not go 22/22 had she had a career over here.

 

If you where owners of dream ahead and bated breath would you be unhappy at 1 retiring and 2 picking the wrong race ? Frankel would destroy her over 6f 7f 1m any distance

 

I have now rerwatched the race.



Black Caviar is on the bridle and asked for nothing really against a sprinter as good as Moonlight Cloud. It was on ground she would not normally be on, and on a stiff track. I reckon she would have a field day on quicker, flatter turf.



She isn't Frankel, and in many ways it is harsh for us to compare the two. They are different types of horse. I would love to see her in a July Cup on quicker ground because her true running is better than that.



In a way, Frankels absolute demolition job the other day put a lot of pressure on the filly. She is still the worlds best sprinter as it stands. Who knows what that journey must have taken out of her. I think she should have come to England an awful lot earlier than she did and to come for a one-off isn't easy- Ask our Melbourne Cup trainers. Hopefully the owners will keep her here for a bit and prove her worth because she'll never hear the end of it if she goes back home now.

 

Thank God some people aren't scathing.

The poor mare was cruising with jockey asleep and instantly pushed on when asked at the last second. As said above too willing to knock her down. It wasn't her fault the jockey cocked up.

Have you any idea what would happen to Frankel if he was travelled over to Australia - NO.
If he was travelled to America - NO
And you will never find out because he will never leave these shores.
He's our champion and if if went overseas and scraped home despite Queally cocking up we would be heaping praise on him.

So how anyone can knock that mare I don't know. Despite the poor ride, she still pulled it out. She is as brave as they come and if all the runners in that race had gone to Australia to take her on in her own back yard she would have slaughtered them.

Give the mare a break.

 

She was impressive imo

 

My opinion of her has been lowered after today im afraid, she was out on her feet, and she did not quicken again right at the end, no way, she was a spent force and Moonlight Cloud was up in another stride. Nolen even said in an interview with Sir Bob that she had nothing left.
