Rumoured on BBC Sport that Billy is off to Celtic and if you think about it then at least he would probably stay on his 30K a week at Parkhead.

Far more likely than him coming to us, they need to fill Hooper's boots and BS will score a bundle up there

I keep saying that Billy Sharp coming to us is highly unlikely - wages alone prohibit this one even if he does want to drop into League 1

I wouldn't even say its highly unlikely smh, More NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. I wish people would stop saying we are linked and SOD will work his magic and get him here. They need to get their head out their ass and realise where we are.

I hope this deal happens just so we don't have to read the stupid rumours about him coming here

Saw Billy Sharp on sky sports last night, he said he had 2 years left on his contract and he want's to stay and regain his place, if he is moved on he want's to continue playing at the highest level possible, we've got no chance, we couldn't afford him and he wouldn't even look at us, time people stopped day dreaming and got realistic..

He is currently way out of the picture at St Mary's, but sounds like he doesn't want to drop his wages which is fair enough at his age after a modest career pay wise. Think we'll send him on loan if no one matches his pay.

NOOOOO!!!!!!! it has nothing to do with our wage structure. We could offer him the 30k he is on now and he still wouldn't come to us. We are a league 1 club he wants to play as high as possible. Any championship club would be before us. He doesn't want to come here and he never will!

Why don't you look at the odds on the betting game?
For Bristol Citys next perm signing

I have no idea about whether there is any truth in this at all HOWEVER, some would do well to remember that quite often, the loaning club will pay a (quite often significant) percentage of the players wages. If he is on £30k then even paying half would save them over £700k a year....

    Josh Carson 4/7
    Jay Simpson 1/1
    Anthony Malbon 6/4
    Saido Berahino 25-1
    Billy Sharp 12000-1
    Christiano Ronaldo 100000-1
Just for a laugh i went round every betting site I could find online and these were the odds against us signing different players the last two I added as they seemed so outlandish personally the last one should have been 1,000.000 to 1 against but bookies never give anything away Ronaldos odds were the usual suspects then 100,000-1 others but even that has been taken down I guess they forgot the russian clubs

Bookies seem to think the fact that Carson is still with us means he will be offered a contract now that Albert has left so he is odds on, and I reckon Jay as second favourite because S O'D has already signed two ex Arsenal players.

Probably Shiny it is all a question of Money and Prestige v's the regard our manager is held in at the moment due to the division we are in.
Had we been in a higher division would we have been interested in Billy Sharp? I think it would be unlikely because we would still have had Steve Davis here and so Sharp would not have been anywhere on the radar, he is at best a championship striker and if we were looking to progress we would have been looking for someone better.
Having said that most of Sean's signings so far this year I would have been happy with even if we had still been in the Championship I say most because I don't include Harewood in that group. To be honest I think our current squad although a little threadbare at the moment is at least as good if not better than what we had last year perhaps a little less skill overall but a lot more desire and commitment, I exclude Stead and possibly Adomah from the lack of commitment, Still not convinced Kilkenny and Fontaine will have anything to give City this year but as has been said by others perhaps this is their level or perhaps they both need to be at another club where they could make fresh starts.
What it boils down to is this were would have liked Sharp here because the lack of effort by most of our players last year dumped us into League 1 had Sean O'Driscoll signed Billy Sharp had we stayed in the Championship I have no doubt that we would have been split as to if it was a good signing, I would probably have sat on the fence until he had played 10 games or so, because I can't make my mind up about him yes he would have scored a hat full of goals in L1 but he isn't anything like as prolific above that level. So all I can say is I trust S O'D to do what is right for the club he has a vision of how he wants a club to play football and can usually find the players to mold into that vision, what he has at City which he has never had before is the chance to start from scratch as at Bournemouth and Doncaster but also have the chance to spend money wisely as he had at Forest(if only for a short time) in order to progress the team past the mid table Championship level.
Looking at it objectively this could well be a win win situation for both Sean O'Driscoll and the club Bristol City needed to get it's house in order and get it's finances sorted out Sean would like to manage in the premiership but as he has said himself the local grocer rarely gets to manage a large supermarket. If Sean gets things right behind the scenes and on the pitch both Bristol City and Sean will achieve their ambitions in a few years and get into the premiership, because if things are going well I think Steve Lansdown would supply whatever was needed to get City into the top league, not break the bank but provide sufficient funds for a canny manager to build a team capable of making the step up

I'm sure everyone will come around after our loss. It seems to be a pattern on here that when we win a game we're apparently favourites for promotion and when we lose Fontaine is the anti-christ and we're going down.

We were never in for Billy Sharp. I've not even read a single rumour stating that we were. I reckon it was just someone on here trying to create a rumour to see where it goes.
