Sad to hear that local lad Bill O`Donovan (68) died last weekend.
Some of the older readers might remember Bill as being one of two massive city fans who made the amazing trek to Tashkent to see city play Moscow Torpedo (I think) in the European Cup Winners Cup back in the seventies. It took them about two years to get there it seems.
I last met Bill walking up Wembley Way, for the Blackpool game…..nice guy!

That journey to Tashkent showed real dedication to the cause. I think it was late sixties. I remember it while still at school. Thoughts and best wishes to Bill's family and freinds. Would be something special to dedicate a Wembley victory to Bill.

I attend our home matches with the guy that went to Tashkent and he didnt know that Bill had died until i told him, the story was covered by BBC Wales Radio last year, and it is a great story, 2 fans all that travelling and organising visa's it sounded quite and adventure, Jack doesnt post as he is in his 70's and i am passing on his condolences on his behalf. R.I.P Bill a true Bluebird.
