Indeed. Tried his best also, was just very limited as a player. Can only ask for total commitment and from what I recall that is what he gave. We've had a few pass early - from John White (probably the biggest tragedy), Cyril Knowles, Mark Kendall and Justin Edinburgh. I'm sure there are many, many more. Never not sad.
Yes your right, I had forgotten the Enterprise . The old memory is getting dodgy! We did use the TL&R for something though, it may have been the AGMs. Also we had a meeting with Riveria Holidays in one of them about our trip to Rotterdam for the Cup Winners Cup Final & I think that was TL&R. (glad I went to that one ) I do have all the AGM stuff but with so much else its quite an effort to haul it all out to check. Between us Smithy I reckon we could open a memorabilia shop
As did one of the lot I used to go with. And we got spanked 1-4. God knows what Ossie and Ricky thought they had signed up for, after that and the debacles of the first few games that season.
I hope you are not like me Maggie. I keep seeing faces but can't remember their names at that moment! I can still remember my mum and nan's Co-Op numbers from 70 odd years ago....and can't remember what I did yesterday!!!!!!? HELP!
I listened to the Spurs Show podcast last night and have just put in my order for the new Norman Giller book " 70 years of Spurs ( a long walk down WHL) and a donation goes to the Tribute Yrust
I'd completely forgotten that little Spurs kiosk next to the White Hart pub.Always my first stop! I do remember the 5 a side open court behind it.....and Tommy Harmer cursing Ron Burgess......!....and that car park opposite where we kids waited for autographs. Me asking Alf Ramsey to write "best wishes", to which he replied "I'll sign my name!" as he looked daggers at me!!!!.
Yes Smithy, I'm just like you, can't remember when I last went to Sainsburys, even though its a 40 mile round trip and I do it regularly & lots of other daft things but I too still remember my Mums Co-op number, 568622! Remember the divi? Usually got a few sweets out of that! I have friends who are the same so its all part of the age progression! I like to do crosswords & word games 'cos I enjoy them but hopefully they'll help to keep the cells active longer! I remember the kiosk very well, started & run by the supporters club. I still have some bits & bobs bought from there including the first ever Spurs scarf which is superior quality to the later ones. I wonder what happened to their archive. They were a good SC run by dedicated fans. Shame in a way that the club started their own which led to the demise of the original & it went all 'business'.
I can't remember now if I bought anything at the White Hart kiosk but did start my programme collection at the kiosk in front of Warmington House I also remember going to a house on Muswell Hill where they offered some old Spurs programme (pre war!).I was 15 and just started work. Cost me 3 quid for 8 programmes. Not today!!!!! One was Thames F.C.with Jimmy Dimmock at outside left! With the Germans bombing the crap out of East London I suppose there's not many of those about today!!!?
Somebody in Croydon has decided it's a brilliant idea to open an axe-throwing stall in a place where alcohol is freely available So expect my typos to get considerably worse in the near future...
