With Mason in charge as long as we get the handshake right we should be fine.

We can now look forward to an interesting end to Spurs season and hopefully return to attacking football.

Since we haven't got a match thread up, I may as well plonk it here: Dane Scarlett isn't in the squad for the U18s game playing right now, so he's surely going to be in the squad tomorrow

I'll do one in a bit. Seemed a little superfluous given yesterday's activities.

If he died from a coronary thrombosis was it a Total Eclipse of the Heart?

Chauvin rightly convicted of second degree murder

This morning I was watching the excellent show American Pickers - a documentary about 2 guys from Iowa who trade in antique bikes, cars, architectural salvage, sporting memorabilia, etc. and they were talking about sporting memorabilia and....in amongst the shots of baseball players, NFL types, etc, they flashed up a picture of Steve Perryman from about '82.

I wonder how the hell his picture got chosen to be on a quintessentially American show?

Still, it was a nice surprise.

Absolutely. The only thing I don't get is how he is guilty of murder (obviously) and also manslaughter. Surely as options they are mutually exclusive. Either he showed wanton disregard for Floyd's life or he did not.

Under Minnesota law the three charges are not mutually exclusive:

The second-degree unintentional murder charge alleged Chauvin caused Floyd's death "without intent" while committing or attempting to commit felony third-degree assault. In turn, third-degree assault is defined as the intentional infliction of substantial bodily harm.

The third-degree murder charge alleged Chauvin caused Floyd's death by "perpetrating an act eminently dangerous to others and evincing a depraved mind, without regard for human life."

The second-degree manslaughter charge alleged Chauvin caused Floyd's death by "culpable negligence whereby the person creates an unreasonable risk, and consciously takes chances of causing death or great bodily harm."
