Absolutely pathetic. but the embarrassment from that match was helped along finely by bignot's stupid bloody kickout. Rooney was a twat a month ago, but this was beyond that, not that bad a challenge to kick towards the guys face, it was bloody stupid. The remaining 10 didn't exactly exceed themselves though...f*****g livid.
Sorry I disagree it was a yellow card but never a red, he lashed out but didn't touch him .... Why arn't you saying Fletcher out and all the other players with appalling discipline records !!!!!
what are you talking about...he kicked out, it was an attempt to hit the bloke. regardless of what he said or did, that is a red card in my book and most others. I cant be bothered to get started on Fletch, as i have already said what i thought on the other thread...
It was a red. You simply can't do that these days and he is old enough to know that. No contact made but it is the intent as much as anything. No excuses in the world will alter how badly we played. There must be something in the washing powder they do the laundry with at Home Park because for some reason anyone who comes here and pulls on an Argyle shirt seem to leave their brain in the dressing room or the chemicals affect it in some way. Anyone going to tell me Bignot would have done that playing for Blackpool.
Fletchers riveting pre match chat probably did it. He made sure they didn't start slow in the second half by having them on the pitch before the opposition..........what a shame we couldn't start before they came out we might of scored.
I have some sympathy with Bignot. It was a red in today's politically correct game but it was provoked by a dangerous and oafish challenge from somebody who I understand has suffered a badly broken leg and would know better if he had 2 braincells. Evans than compounded it by laying hands on Bignot to flip his legs back over his head while he was on the ground and all Bignot did was to flip his legs back staright without making contact with Evans. In fact given the tackle & the provocation, a good ref would have dished out yellows on both sides but notably, the ref didn't book Evans for the tackle irrespective of what Bignot did, which is a disgrace. He also didn't book McCone for leaning over the fence to celebrate his goal with the fans, which I understood to be a mandatory yellow and which he must have seen. All in all, homer, like the erst of them. All these cards are costing us dearly and need to be stopped but there were mitigating circumstances in this one.
In one and a half seasons...........20 red cards.........the equivalent of finishing 25% of matches one player short.
Bloody hell notdistant and people call me green tinted. The tackle on Bignot wasn't great but it wasn't that bad. Nobody got hurt. You say yourself it was a red and that is because it was and you cannot defend a professional player showing that kind of retaliation for what was very little in the end. Asking for a non league player to be booked for leaning over a fence, slightly, is also a bit much. If it had been me that scored that goal I would have been bouncing off the stand roof. Lets be honest about it, the reasons why we lost that game was not because of the Ref or the lack of bookings for the opposition. It was plain and simply because Argyle did not perform at all for the 98 minutes the game lasted. Lack of balls, committment, spirit, backbone, passion, take your pick of one or all of those descriptions is what cost us the game. We were worse than bad and these players have no excuse for how they did.
What planet are you on as regards refs Sensible? Evans was so late the ball was in a different post code. That's not an accident. And if you watch it again, you'll notice that after Bignot goes down, Evans flips Bignot's legs back over his head. It's then Bignot kicks out. OK, Bignot shouldn't have done that but the tackle was a definite yellow and then Evans touched Bignot, which compounded it. If he'd pushed him in the chest like that you'd have expected a red. Manhandling Bignot whilst on the ground certainly provoked Bignot and if the ref had any common sense [an oxymoron if I ever heard one], he'd have taken that into account and given both yellows. On the celebration, it's a MANDATORY yellow like taking your shirt off. I'm not saying I like that but it's a fact and it's the way the game goes these days. The ref couldn't possibly have missed it so if you can explain why there was no card, other than the fact they were home players, please do so.
Notdistant it was a red however you dress it up. It was a foul on him yes and the Ref gave that but the rest of it was more handbags than anything else. Trouble is you cannot kick out head high even if you miss deliberately and Bignot is old enough and has played professionally long enough to know better. Maybe the Stourbridge player should have been booked but it doesn't mean Bignot should not have had a red. As for the celebration well maybe the Ref was just being a tad lenient given the occasion for the Stourbridge players. However,it is hardly the worst thing in the world he did and that doesn't make the Ref a homerjust human. We lost on Stourbridge's merits simply that and the Ref had nothing to do with that outcome whatsoever.
